Doctor Frank C Bishop Dies in Winnipeg Visit

Dr Frank C Bishop dies suddenly in Winnipeg during a visit to his parents following a period of poor health He was a veteran Canadian Army Veterinary corps officer past president of the Dauphin Curling Club and a noted violinist He is survived by his wife Edna May Kemp and daughter Margaret Kemp Bishop Funeral services were held at Clark Leatherdale Funeral Home with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

Northern Manitoba Tennis Tournament Opens Today

Prospects are excellent for the annual Northern Manitoba Tennis Tournament to be played at the Dauphin Tennis Club. The event includes mixed doubles and a janitor tournament with the same lineup of events.

Dawphin Man Richard McComb Dies Sudden at 68

Richard McComb 68 of Dauphin died Tuesday afternoon after collapsing at home. Born in Owen Sound Ontario he moved with family to Manitoba as a boy living in Griswold Brandon Winnipeg and Grandview before settling in Dauphin in 1931. He married Lillian Tully of Winnipeg in 1898. Survived by wife two brothers Reginald and Thomas and sisters Mrs Coulter and Mrs Mitchell. Funeral held at Farrell's Dauphin conducted by F W MacLean. body sent to Winnipeg for burial.

Mrs Delmage Captures Manitoba Ladies Title in Winnipeg

Mrs J E Delmage won the Manitoba Lawn Tennis ladies singles title in Winnipeg last week defeating Miss Asa Bratvold after Bratvold won the first set. Delmage rallied to take the second set and the third by default as Bratvold could not continue in the heat. Delmage also reached the mixed doubles final.

Funeral Held Tuesday for James R Strachan Prison Warden

James Reid Strachan 57, longtime prison warden at Dauphin provincial gaol, died at his Sthave S E home after two years illness. Born in Inveravon Scotland he served in the Boer War and World War I before moving to Canada in 1921 with his family. He is survived by wife Mary Duncan and son John, plus a sister and brother in Scotland. The United Church service was led by Rev D Ritchie with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Dauphin Fair Showcases Record Exhibits Despite Heat Drop

The Dauphin Agricultural Society summer fair and rodeo drew strong outside exhibitor entries from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, increasing total showings across classes. Judges from Winnipeg and local volunteers oversaw major livestock and poultry divisions while a large crowd attended rodeo events despite hot weather.

Winnipeg man fined for not making egg returns

M Yanowski of Winnipeg, manager of Primary Products, was convicted and fined costs for failing to make seven day returns under the Livestock and Livestock Products Act. He pleaded guilty to not returning details to an Ethelbert merchant from whom he bought thirteen crates of eggs, as egg inspector A F Darnell stated. Barrister H Sokolov represented him.

Vimy Memorial Service Planned by Dauphin Legion

Veterans of the Dauphin Branch of the Canadian Legion set July 26 for a Vimy Memorial service and grave decoration at Riverside Cemetery. Rev. H. E. Bridgett M.C. will deliver the dedication address. Veterans meet at the armoury at 2 p.m. and parade at 2 30 with other organizations. Cars will gather at the Hamilton Hotel for the drive to the cemetery. Everyone is invited.

Mrs John Nicholson Dies in Winnipeg at Eightieth Year

Marguerita L. Nicholson widow of Dauphin native John Nicholson died suddenly at her Winnipeg home in her eightieth year. Born at sea near the straits of Gibraltar in 1856 she later moved from Carlisle England to Dauphin. Survived by nine sons and one daughter, funeral Friday July 17 at 3 pm with burial at Riverside Cemetery.

Mildred K Lowes Snodgrass wife of Robert G Snodgrass of Kenora died Sunday after a brief marriage of three weeks. She formerly resided in Winnipeg before the union. Survived by husband mother Mrs H Lowes Winnipeg and brother Gordon H in Saskatchewan. Funeral held in Winnipeg.
