Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. F E Simpson

Funeral services for Mrs. F E Simpson were held in Dauphin with Rev Dr Wilkinson and Rev Dr Burns officiating. The Ontario educated musician and organist leaves her husband Frank E Simpson K C later Judge Simpson of Minnedosa and daughter Gwyn Simpson. Also surviving are her parents Mr and Mrs S Code of Vancouver and Seattle and sister Mrs Hayward Hand of Seattle. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery Dauphin with pallbearers including Jas L Bowman Rob Hawkins W J Ward H N Macneil O E Heaslip and Roger Watson.

Francis Harpham Injured Jumping From Falling Beam

Francis Harpham fractured his jaw and injured his knee after leaping from a ladder into an engine pit to escape a 27 foot timber that slipped from a crane. He landed with the timber striking his jaw and knee. he was rushed to hospital for operation and x rays.

Dauphin Summer Fair Showcases Record Livestock Entries

Increased livestock entries and standout grandstand acts highlighted the Dauphin Agricultural Society summer fair. A large crowd attended over three days with notable visitors including provincial agriculture minister D L Campbell and MLA W Morton. The parade featured prize stock and the six horse Clydesdale team led a crowd along with judges evaluating cattle sheep and swine. A junior farm camp livestock judging event drew seventy eight participants amid strong showings in horses and poultry.

Dauphin Butcher Stewart Baird Dies at 64

Stewart Baird, prominent Dauphin butcher and head of Baird and Logs, died Saturday July 10 after a year of ill health, in Dauphin General Hospital. A life member and former master of Vermillion Lodge A F and A M, he was buried Tuesday July 13 at Riverside cemetery. He was born in Perth Ontario in 1878 and moved west in youth settling in Dauphin in 1908 with a large family including eight sons and two daughters.

Seed Growers Convention to Meet in Dauphin Friday

Seed growers from across Manitoba will gather in Dauphin on Friday for the Manitoba Seed Growers Association annual convention. A newly patented wild oat cleaner by a Makaroff resident will be demonstrated, described as a significant advance in separating wild oats from tame oats. The Dauphin Board of Trade organizes arrangements, with a 1 p.m. luncheon at the Kings Hotel for outside visitors, followed by a public afternoon session and a motor trip to Clear Lake for delegates.

Engineer Hurt As Timber Falls At Plant

George McLean, an engineer at the local power plant, sustained head injuries when a timber fell six feet onto him Friday afternoon. Dr. R E Dicks reports the condition as good.

Masonic Rites Observed At Grave Service For Local Figure

In St Pauls Anglican church the rector Rev H E Bridgett oversaw Masonic rites both in the temple and at the graveside. Vermillion Lodge, Dauphin directed the graveside rites with honorary pallbearers Wm Buchannon Robert Ferguson Hugh Graham Art Pollen Jim Graham Thos Caley and active bearers Robi Hawkins J L Bowman Ernie McGirr Dr R E Dicks Vic McKay John Gardner.
