Dauphin marks its twenty fifth anniversary with a historic pageant and agricultural fair. The event features speeches by H Mecorvie reeve and J N Macneill, plus Premier Bracken. A lakefront parade highlights early days, lumbering, schools, and local institutions.
The governor general hosts a cabinet ceremony and confirms quick swearing in of ministers led by Prime Minister Meighen. Attendees include Perley Bennett Patenaude Guthrie Stevens Tolmie Black Manion Chaplin Jones Ryckman Ryckman Morand plus Drayton Sutherland and MacDonald without portfolio.
On Monday evening Dauphin Lodge No. 36 installed officers for the fall term led by D D G M William Scott of Roblin assisted by A McIntyre of Grandview and Brown of Gilbert Plains. New officers included J P G Harry Oliphant N G Robert Fagen V G W S Marsh Cond Cecil Clarks Warden S Solomon Chaplain J A Fraser RSNG H V Smith F S N G L Beer RS GG Day Craig LVG Jas Stewart RSS mm Pet Los cow Timm 1G D Kells O G E Fair.
Dauphin Lodge No 57 was declared the best and most active in Manitoba after judging set by the hosts. Competing lodges included Winnipeg Portage la Prairie Minnedosa Roblin Winnipegosis and Dauphin. Brandon was not represented.
Alex Neault faced Mr Justice D A MacDonald in the King's Bench Court at Dauphin on Wednesday for theft of parcels sent by parcel post at Swan River in early 1926. He was found guilty and sentenced to three years in the penitentiary. Prosecutor C B A Rogers led the case. F E Simpson defended the accused.
The Manitoba Championship Bree Press cup race on July 3 saw Winnipeg send 53 pigeons from Medicine Hat 600 miles and Dauphin 14 to Calgary 606 miles. W McClernon won the cup for Dauphin with a first bird at 5.50 am Sunday and Dauphin took the first five places as Winnipeg waited until day three. Dauphin Pigeon Club thanks ringing and timing helpers W McCormack G Hume and F Douglas. A second race on July 10 produced winners I Hinds 1139 ypm J Williams 1128 ypm G Phil pott 1110 ypm EB White 1080.
The Dauphin examination day on June 14 featured Mrs. F B Roberts with seven pupils achieving strong results. Ida Rzesnoski earned Honours in Intermediate while Geoffery Bonnycastle and Marjorie Smith gained Honors in Primary. Helen Bell, Winnifred Robson, Earl Smith earned First Class Honors and Introductory Margaret Wilson completed the slate.
