Dauphin Student Earns 1851 British Exposition Scholarship
Ernest Solomon of Dauphin has been selected as one of three Canadian students to receive 1851 British Exposition scholarships for 1934. A McGill University PhD graduate in chemistry, he plans postgrad work at Manchester University under the British committee’s guidance.

The Dauphin Citizens' Band won the Winnipeg Piano Company shield at Brandon Fair beating five rural Manitoba bands. Judges were Everett Johnson and Lieut Arthur Williams. Dauphin scored 85 points to lead Killarney 83 and Grenboro Souris 78 with Wawanesa 77. J C McMurray to receive a baton. first entry for Dauphin.

Former Valley River Resident Dies in B C
William McMillan aged 75, a former Valley River resident, died Monday at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria British Columbia. Born in Scotland he emigrated to Canada and settled in the Valley River district about 1900. He is survived by his widow three daughters and one son.
