Rally formation at Mackenzie at 0:50 am followed by a 14:00 am parade. Gates open at 1945 am with opening by Hon C. L. Shuttleworth, minister of agriculture. 8:30 pm grandstand platform attractions and 8:00 pm 4H Club concert mark the official exhibition opening.
A Dauphin schedule lists 10:00 am livestock event, 12:00 noon travellers parade, 1:30 pm Shriners Winnipeg 204 band, harness races and Dauphin youth bands, 6:10 pm Royal Canadian Horse Artillery band, 7:45 pm platform attractions first program, 9:30 pm Dauphin band, and 9:45 pm second platform attraction.
A lineup lists 1:15 p.m. Dauphin band, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. har races, interspersed with the Girls' band. 6:30 p.m. stock parade, 7:30 p.m. platform attractions, 9:15 p.m. Dauphin band, and 9:40 p.m. platform attractions for a second program.
The Herald reveals the first weekly prizes for Series No 1 of the Fix The Mix-Up contest. Mrs Roy Alf of Dauphis wins a ladies wrist watch, Mrs John Robinson of Borketon receives a set of Wear-Ever pots, and Dariene Carnochan of Dauphin wins a Westinghouse coffee percolator. Entries for Series 2 close July 13 and Series 3 details appear in the July 4 issue.
Dauphin Agricultural Society presents livestock judging Friday and Saturday July 12 and 13 with dairy cattle Guernsey Jersey Holstein and beef cattle Herefords and Aberdeen Angus and grependovine and poultry. Regional Shorthorn entries show Saturday with a stock parade at 6 30 p m. Prizes awarded for various horse and pony classes and a grand prize Fleetwood radio record player announced in July 25 issue.
Dauphin Agricultural Society prepares a large summer exhibition with exhibits in 12 buildings and new grandstand seating near 2 000. Hon C L Shuttleworth will open the event as shows, harness races, light horse events, and a three day program attract visitors from Manitoba and beyond. Royal Canadian Horse Artillery band to perform twice on second day.
KDB Enterprises of Calgary will again supply grandstand entertainment at Dauphin fair on Thursday Friday and Saturday featuring The Aliens Banana Man Bobo Barnett Libonati Ricky Ding Lee Sings and Payo Mai along with other acts praised in The Herald previews.
The Government Liquor Control Commission retail store in Dauphin will open 11 am to 6 pm this week except Thursdays when it opens 10 am and closes 12 noon for a half day. It will not observe the civic half holiday and will be open all day this Friday July 12.
Travellers in Dauphin organize the 25th Travellers Parade on Friday July 12 during the Dauphin Agricultural Society events. Bands A-Plenty will perform as organizers pursue a memorable community float procession through the town.
Dauphin community prepares a three day fair with a big 4 H Rally and parade opening Thursday July 11. Organizers expect a larger turnout than last year and prize money of 1000 dollars plus two gold watches. Parade starts 11 am from Mackenzie grounds with 50 floats bands and a large show in the DMCC grounds. Formal Rally Day opening at 11 45 am with remarks by Howard Campbell and J F Muir head.
The Dauphin Herald & Press completed an early deadline on Monday, allowing the printing staff a two week recess. No issue will publish on July 18, with the next edition slated for July 25. Front office operates 9 30 am to 4 pm on weekdays for emergencies.
The Dauphin Agricultural Society sets traffic rules for the three day fair at the DMCC Grounds. Cars allowed only through Memorial Boulevard gate. Pedestrians with single tickets must use the main gate. Season ticket holders use the First Avenue gate. Exhibitors use First Avenue entrance behind the industrial building.
