Cadet Summer Camp Training In Full Swing
The first 1 000 air force cadets have arrived at the former No 7 Bombing and Gunnery school for two weeks of summer training. Among them are 35 cadets from Dawson Creek British Columbia who travelled three days. The program includes firing a .303 machine gun, motors and plane construction classes, lectures by air force officers, and organized sports. Cadets may swim at Dauphin Beach and wear abbreviated shorts off parade. The first group trains until July 18 before a second group arrives.

Last Week Sets Precipitation Record with 4.39 Inches

Miles property bought for new school site and board purchases
The school board purchased the Miles property for 3550 and four more lots in the same block for 600, giving the board and town full ownership of the block. The board also bought an automatic Stoker for Mackenzie school for just over 2600. A survey counted 1086 students, with 805 in public school and 281 in collegiate, including town and rural residents and several non residents. Janitors petitioned for higher wages though current pay stands at 95 to 100 monthly. A request urged the town council to bar building permits opposite Mackenzie school. Corner lots in block 32 plan 243 are reserved for a drill hall that could become a gym or a manual training school.
