Three Years and Ten Lashes for Hold Up Gunman
Mike Hrynchuk of Dauphin was sentenced by Judge Bonnycastle in the county court to three years in penitentiary and ten strokes of the lash for a June 5 holdup at the UK cafe. He demanded cash from the proprietor and fled with twenty nine dollars and a few cents. Accomplices Joe Wyrozub Mike Barko and Gregory Zachuruk were acquitted for lack of evidence but re-arrested on robbery with violence charges. The case was prosecuted by C A Rogers KC with J M Ross representing the defense.

Cash Register Stolen From Liberty Cafe
Thieves broke into the Liberty Cafe on Main Street Dauphin in the early hours of Thursday and stole a cash register with its contents totaling twenty dollars. No clues were left to aid police. A man gained entrance through a back window, opened the front door for an accomplice, and fled with the locked register which was later found damaged near Steen's sash and door factory.

Inkster dies. Manitoba sheriff served since 1928
Rupert F. Inkster, who succeeded his father as Mani toba s first sheriff in 1928, died at Winnipeg General Hospital this week. Gilbert Plains Backs Manitoba Hydro Franchise Victory

John Whitmore Loses Barn by Fire
A Friday morning fire destroyed John Whitmore's large barn adjacent to town along with its harness and stable equipment. No livestock were inside. W D Strang and others prevented the blaze from spreading. The building was worth $2,500 and partly insured.

Fatal Shooting Near Alonso Manitoba
In Alonso Manitoba July 5 Hugh McKay a 70 year old farmer was fatally shot in the stomach while working near his home four miles northwest of Alonso. A unknown youthful slayer robbed him of $11, McKay identified no suspect before dying en route to Portage la Prairie hospital. Police at Gladstone investigated two suspects but the dying man did not identify them. Medical aid was summoned from McCreary and a truck ferried the victim toward Portage la Prairie where he died near the town.

Daring Jail Break Attempt Intercepted at Dauphin Jail
A plan by Steve Lemmy to break the Dauphin jail was thwarted by Jas. Craig who captured him and returned him to his cell. Lemmy pled guilty later and received two years for breaking jail, to run with a four month robbery sentence. J. Cameron, a night guard, was assaulted during the escape attempt but released.

Manitoba Horse Regiment Completes Camp Hughes Stay
The Manitoba Horse Regiment under Lt Col McGuirk was in camp at Camp Hughes until Friday July 1 1930. The unit with 14 officers 135 men and 115 horses won several events on Sports Day and endured a severe 30 minute electrical storm.
