Plans for impounding dam and reservoir considered by council

Council considered completing blueprints for a new impounding dam and reservoir and planned to invite tenders and begin work at the soonest. A October completion target for the dam was noted along with a by law authorizing a contract with the Manitoba Power Commission to supply power to Gilbert Plains and Grand View for over a decade.

George Airey Jackson born in Gananoque Ontario 43 years ago died of pneumonia at Dauphin General Hospital on Sunday May 1936. He had worked on the Temiska Ming and Northern Ontario Railway before moving to Dauphin in 1912.

Hawkins Nominated by Dauphin Liberal-Progressives

Monday afternoon the Dauphin Liberal-Progressives unanimously nominated Robert Hawkins, MLA, as their candidate for the provincial election set for July 27. Conservatives Nominate E. N. McGirr for Dauphin Ride

Ernest N. McGirr K C of Dauphin reaffirmed his candidacy for the Conservative party at a Dauphin riding nomination in the town hall. The meeting included Willis outlining platform planks and Charles Ashe of Makinak serving as chairman at the June 30 gathering.

Ronald Moore Named CCF Nominee At Open Convention

At Elk's Hall in Dauphin Ronald Moore was unanimously chosen as the CCF candidate for the provincial election. S J Farmer MLA led the party's campaign kickoff with an afternoon speech and a public evening meeting. Frank Crowder presided. Moore opened with a sketch of party origins in Canada and England.

Large Entry For Summer Fair Rodeo Open Today

The Dauphin Agricultural Society opens its Annual Summer Fair for three days with the largest livestock poultry and hall exhibits in five years. The second annual Rodeo Round-up and Stampede features Grandstand entertainment with De Waldo’s attractions and Virden Citizen’s band. Judges from Winnipeg and North Dakota will oversee livestock poultry and craft classes as home crafts return this year.
