June saw nine new dwelling permits in Dauphin boosting six month totals to 333,669 dollars. New homes total 276,630 dollars with repairs 13,500 dollars and one private garage 600 dollars, making June activity lift first half 1964 totals above 1963 figures.

Ethelbert Agricultural Society announces cancellation of the summer fair and adoption of a Fall Fair on September 30. Livestock classes including horses cattle sheep swine and poultry are eliminated. Industrial hall exhibits replace green vegetables flowers and forage. baking canning dairy poultry produce crochet and sewing remain as event classes.

Local judges appointed for the late July home grounds contests in Dauphin. Rural and urban categories include herbaceous flowers vegetables fruit lawn and living-out areas with checks for weeds pests and orderliness. Prizes include Scott’s Hardware and United Grain Growers trophies with no charge for guidance to residents.

Community event invites Dauphin residents and visitors to free pancake breakfast on Main Street before parade time. 6000 to 8000 servings planned with three kitchens 8 a.m. folding chairs encouraged. Dauphin Fair Opens With Low Admission and Rush Grandstands

Three day fair stalls season tickets at 1 50 with free children under 12 and 75 cent adult grounds entry. Grandstand fees 150 for afternoon rodeos, 1 for students, 50 cents for 12 and under. Evening shows 1 for adults 50 cents for young. Grandstand seats on a rush basis with 4000 seats. Midway by Gayland Shows from Saskatchewan circuit. 4 H Rally parade starts 9 am July 9 from Mackenzie School, moves to Main Street then Memorial Boulevard and fair grounds. Official openings and awards follow with 4H Concert and Dress Revue.

Opening of Dauphin Fair Set for Thursday Night

The 70th Dauphin Summer Fair opens Thursday at 7 30 pm with Bruce Beer parliamentary secretary to the dominion minister of agriculture as guest of honor. He will speak before the 4H concert and dress revue, then the first night features chariot and chuck wagon races as entries into the exhibit hall pour in before noon Wednesday.

Livestock Judging Schedule at DMCC Fair Opens July 10

Bright and early Friday July 10 the DMCC grounds host dairy cattle beef cattle sheep and swine judging at 9 30 am with exhibitors preparing their livestock. The program notes judging may change by directors and continues Saturday July 11 at 9 30 am for all livestock. Horse show program also listed for Friday morning.
