Great War Veterans Hold Big Celebration
Great War Veterans celebrated with ideal weather and a record crowd. Four to five thousand attended the Exhibition grounds for the afternoon program after a morning parade that drew praise. Cars were decorated with flags and many townspeople joined the event.

Children enjoyed a morning sports program in the park featuring races and other activities. The Gilbert Plains band provided excellent music, enhancing the day for all attendees.

A large crowd packed the field for a multi team baseball tournament featuring Beavers Gilbert Plains Grandview MecOrhy Mak inak Morronville C N K G W V and Pariuers. Grandview defeated Makinak 3 2 while G W V toppled McCreary 3 2 and Grandview beat C N R 6 2. The Beavers then beat G W V 7 1 and edged Grandview 3 2 in a final full nine innings. Umpires and track events followed with sprint and distance dashes and a fat men’s race wrapping the day.

Verdict for Mrs Haley Against Canadian National Railway
Mrs Jos Haley secures a $10,000 verdict in Saskatoon court over the death of her husband Joseph Haley. He died at Hawke's Spur near Hudson Bay Junction in fall 1918 after being crushed between a loading platform and a freight car. Trial occurred June 25 with Bowman, McFadden & Caldwell for the plaintiff.
