Severe hailstorm devastates farms and trains in Manitoba region

A ferocious hailstorm late Friday afternoon caused extensive damage from Sifton to Lake Dauphin and Makinak. Train 15 suffered broken windows, houses and barns were damaged, crops destroyed, and phones disrupted across the Dauphin district. farmers report extensive losses with limited hail insurance.

Dauphin Athletes Shine at Provincial Track Meet

Finely trained Dauphin Collegiate athletes helped Manitoba Provincial meet record book with two new marks. Harry Comrie won the primary boys half mile in 2 1935, first-time event record. Mervyn Weir set senior mile record at five minutes 225 seconds. Dauphin placed five of seven boys, with Mulligan, Smith, Kets earning medals in sprints and high jump.

Dauphin Summer Fair Rodeo Opens Next Weekend

One week remains until the Dauphin Summer Fair Livestock Exhibition and Rodeo in Northwestern Manitoba.
