Dauphin Public School Promotions Details Graduation Path

The Dauphin collegiate and public schools closed for summer on June 2 and will reopen September 1. The list shows pupils advancing from Beginners’ to Grade I, from Grade I to II, II to IV, II to V, and seniors, with names across classes and promotions including honors and conditional moves.

Dauphin Country Club Sets Golf Rules For Players

The Dauphin Country Club publishes strict rules on who may use the course. Residents face a limit of twice playing unless joining as members, with fees ranging from 5 to 25 dollars based on prior play and status. Visitors require a member escort and a playing ticket, sold at local shops. A banquet at the Hamilton Hotel honored John Kennedy of the Bank of Nova Scotia for his service, with speeches praising his contributions to the town and church life. The event featured Rev. Philip Duncan, Mayor G Palmer, and local business figures, plus musical tributes and a piano lamp presentation.

Boys Injured by Exploding Dynamite Caps

On Tuesday of last week Bert Nicholson ten year old son of Thos Nicholson and his brother Jack picked up a dynamite cartridge. The fulminate of mercury exploded injuring Bert’s left hand severing his second finger and lacerating his thumb. Jack had minor cuts and both boys were treated at Dauphin General Hospital. A similar accident occurred in Zalicia with Joe Solway twelve sustaining the loss of the tops of all fingers on one hand. He is recovering in hospital.

Premier Bracken to visit Dauphin in July

Manitoba premier Hon. John Bracken will attend the 25th anniversary celebration in Dauphin on July. He will be hosted to luncheon by the Canadian Club at 11 30 and will deliver an address afterward. It is unclear if he will stay for the remaining fair days.

Meighen forms Canadian cabinet after King resignation

Following King s resignation after failed dissolution hopes the Governor General summons Arthur Meighen to form a cabinet. He appoints seven ministers without portfolio Drayton Manton Perley Stevens Guthrie Black and Bennett as the new ministers while Meighen cannot sit in the house due to his Crown office. no election soon.

Fire destroys United Grain Growers elevator at Sifton

The elevator at Sifton Manitoba was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. Loss about 15000 dollars. several thousand bushels of grain shipped recently and 250 bags of flour in the shed burned. Fire spread risk to nearby buildings but local bucket brigades saved the town. Fire cause unknown.

Young Liberal Club Formed in Dauphin Meeting

A Tuesday evening gathering at Megss. Simpson, McGiry & Katz organized a Dauphin Young Liberal Club with about twenty attendees. Mr. Gunn spoke on Winnipeg roots and club aims. Officers elected: President Dan McLeod, Vice-President Jack Wilson, Sec Treas Russell Stewart. A nominating committee will report July 13 at G. W. V. hall.

A meeting of Conservatives of Division No 9 held Tuesday evening organized the division. About 150 attendees represented Swan River Ste Rose Gilbert Plains Dauphin Roblin and Ethelbert. St James Church bids farewell to Rev Philip Duncan

Monday evening the congregation of St James church gathered to bid farewell to six year pastor Rev Philip Duncan. Messages of appreciation came from Rev A E Counns Rev O E Broughton and Rev Fred C Middleton. Gifts included a parlor clock a club bag and a lamp. Duncan expressed thanks and noted his move to Brandon as a new challenge.

Dauphin Trader Felix Marantz Dies in Los Angeles

Felix Marantz longtime Dauphin district resident died in Los Angeles California on June 21 after a life spanning Winnipegosis Lifton and Dauphin where he became a leading tradesman with wide business ties. Two companions who left New York for Canada in 1896 included Jacob Buckwold and Samuel Korman. Korman died years ago. Buckwold remains a well known Dauphin figure.

Memorial Service Honors Fallen Soldiers at War Memorial

A Sunday memorial service for great war fallen soldiers was held at the War Memorial in front of the town hall. Rev A E Cousins led the proceedings with several clergy, including Captain Joyce and Major Skinner, and the Dauphin Band provided music. A wreath list from multiple town and fraternal organizations followed, highlighting community participation and tributes.

Miss Nellie Gabel Killed at Virden Crossing

Miss Nellie Gabel former Dauphin resident dies in an automobile crash at Steward's crossing on the Virden McAulay branch. Reports say the car stalled on the tracks as a train approached. Passenger George Atkins, 18, also perished from injuries.

Brownlee Government Sustained in Alberta

The U F M government was endorsed by an overwhelming majority in Alberta elections on Monday. Premier Brownlee was returned at Ponoka while Conservative leader A A McGillivray won the largest popular vote in Calgary. W J Ward MP was summoned from Ottawa due to Mrs Ward’s illness. Miss Bateman visited her brother C J M Bateman and returned to England with Mrs Bateman. Look out for Irene—she's coming to town.
