Dauphin Breaks At Neepawa In Open Game Thrilling Finish

Dauphin overcame Neepawa in a fast open game with early Dauphin goals from Roy and Haddrell strong defense and goaltending by Haddrell. Neepawa fought back with two goals by K Craig and others but Dauphin held on as Haddrell faced heavy pressure in the final period. About 450 fans attended with a projected larger crowd for a future game.

R A Sara of Winnipeg, managing secretary of Manitoba's Industrial Development board, spoke to the Dauphin Board of Trade on Industrial Canada. He warned small manufacturers under 15 employees employ most of Canada’s 529,626 workers in 170,903 establishments and urged keeping them operating to support towns and local economies.

Town Cuts Wood Fuel Quota After Action

Town officials cut a looming wood shortage by raising weekly allotment from 85 to 125 cards after dealers appealed through the town office. Corres pondence and reports show the emergency stockpile remains the main source as farmers offer little wood and winter demand stays high.

Manitoba Liquor Ration Changes Take Effect February First

Manitoba to raise wine allowances from two to four bottles per month and permit unrestricted sale of gin cocktails liqueurs and rum. Scotch rye and brandy stay at two bottles monthly with one of each. Commission notified of the change.

Jimmy Williams Wins Three Curling Championships

Dauphin’s Jimmy Williams led his rink to three major curling titles the T Eaton Burrows Memorial and Grand Aggregate, going undefeated through an 82-rink field and earning 12 wins in six days. Teammates Norm Boushy George Nitchell and Ron March joined him in the triumphs as the local club shocked outsiders and dominated the Bonspiel.
