Dauphin Wins Second Game Over Transcona 6 to 4

Dauphin outplayed Transcona to take a 6 to 4 win in CNBA action Friday night. Klym and G May each helped Dauphin light up the score sheet with multiple goals as Dauphin used relentless attack to hold a two goal lead late. Nantais stood tall in net for Dauphin while Gevaga shone for Transcona, but the Dauphin attack overwhelmed the visitors with quick pressure and accurate finishes.

Organizing a Parent-Teachers Association Meeting

As part of Education Week from February 3 to 9 a public meeting will be held in the MacKenzie school auditorium on Thursday February 7 at eight p.m. to discuss forming a Parent-Teachers Association. All interested in education, especially parents, are invited.

Dauphin Schools Celebrate Education Week February 3

Education Week begins February 3 with church pulpits mentioning the event. Special programs are set across Mackenzie Whitmore South-Jackson and Collegiate to involve Senior and Junior classes on February 6 to 8 with 2 15 to 3 39 p m dismissals and teacher open house for parents. Educational Radio broadcasts are noted for the week.

Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs Wm Greenman

Dauphin residents Mr and Mrs Wm Greenman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday January 29 with a reception at the home of Mr and Mrs J N Miles. Born in Birmingham England they married in 1885 and lived in Ontario Saskatchewan and Manitoba before Mr Greenman’s 1931 retirement from the C N R. The couple have five children eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren with more than 100 guests attending.

Dauphin United Church Holds Annual Meeting

The Dauphin United Church held its annual congregational meeting at St. James Church Tuesday evening with good attendance. Rev. Douglas Telfer chaired. A Phant elected secretary. Reports showed a successful year with high youth and Sunday School activity. Funds cover current expenses but missionary allocation short. a committee will report. New elders named W P Armstrong Wicklund Craig Honeysett Ophant Fraser. Luncheon followed.

Scots Celebrate Burns Anniversary in Dauphin Town Hall

About 120 gathered for the annual Burns banquet honoring the national poet. R. M. Stevenson chaired in the St. Andrew's Society hall as Rev. D. H. Telfer and Dr. J. R. Gunne spoke. Thomas Walker handed over Burns painting to Stevenson. Musical numbers by Mrs. Oliphant, Mrs. McNabb,Jean Kirk, Wilfrid Caldwell, Ronald Paul, Murray Sperani. Jean Henderson praised for Scottish dances.

Unemployed Association to Hear Speakers on Feb 3

The Dauphin Unemployed Association invites members and others to a Sunday gathering at the Hamilton Hotel Sample Rooms to discuss public questions of the day with speakers Robert Hawkins G M Churchill and W J Ward. Further meetings will be announced.

School Board Discusses Education At Rotary Club Meet

The Dauphin Rotary Club hosted the school board and discussed education with Rev. D. H. Telfer welcoming guests. J. N. McFadden outlined school functions from a public and democratic citizenship angle, noting shifts in curricula and the need to prepare students for varied futures.

Board of Review Sits at Dauphin Manitoba Farm Debt Case

The Dauphin court house hosts the first local sitting of the Board of Review under the Farm Debtor's Arrangement Act. Justice P. J. Montague of Winnipeg presides with Commissioners A. Johnson and W. C. Wreeth. Manitoba Farm Loans Association is represented by C. K. Guild and John Wylie. A long case list will keep the board in session through Friday and likely into Saturday with no decisions yet issued.
