Inter-Municipal Effort Seeks PFRA Assistance for Lakes Dauphin Area

Ten municipalities in the Lakes Dauphin district push to bring the area under the prairie farm rehabilitation act. PFRA surveys last summer mapped needs and the group hopes federal designations extend to include the Lake Dauphin watershed. If denied, local funding with provincial and federal help may be required. A Dauphin December meeting and a January 10 vote urged major flood control and water conservation projects beyond local finances. Reeve reps form an inter-municipal committee, with FS Zaplitny MP and WJ Ward assisting.
