The St Andrew's Society marked Burns Birthday with a Town Hall gathering led by Rev H M Lyon. The evening featured haggis served on trenchers, bagpipes, various Burns tributes, songs and recitations, and a Ceilidh style program with notable speakers and performers.

Dauphin H C Prepares Three Week Fans Delight

The Dauphin Hockey Club schedules three weeks of games starting Friday with Neepawa senior team visiting to face the Maroons in junior hockey. Neepawa leads the North western league while Dauphin eyes victory despite the visitors’ experience and weight. Minnedosa Yorkton Brandon Juniors Portage Juniors and possibly Kenora may appear soon with standing room expected tight for the Friday match.

Canadian poet A Bliss Carman reads in Grace Church

A Bliss Carman gave readings from Far Horizons and his nature poetry to a large audience in Grace United Church. The Dauphin Canadian Club arranged the event with Dr. J R Gunne introducing Carman and praising his life and work.

Frozen extremities send Winnsis man to Dauphin General Hospital

Robert Marsland of Winnsis was admitted to Dauphin General Hospital on Monday with severe frostbite to hands and feet. He was guiding a fishing sleigh from Meadow Portage when the team bolted, leaving him exposed to freezing conditions and lacking adequate clothing. By the time he reached the nearest settlement he was in critical condition and facing possible partial amputation.

Death of R C McLeod Premier Dauphin figure dies in Saskatoon

Robert Carmichael McLeod a longtime Dauphin public servant died January 20 while traveling from Victoria to health rest in Saskatoon hospital. Born 1859 in Ontario, he moved west in 1878 homesteaded in Dauphin Mountview district and served on municipal council as school trustee and agricultural society director. He was a Liberal and Presbyterian. Funeral held January 23 at St James United Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Horace Baird Dies After Long Illness

Horace Baird son of Mr and Mrs Stuart Baird died after a prolonged illness following a diving accident in 1923 in Dauphin Manitoba He was born May 12 1901 in Rathwell Manitoba and moved to Dauphin in 1908 Survived by his parents eight brothers and two sisters a private service was held at the family home and a church funeral at St Pauls Anglican Church Interment at Riverside The Waning Sex starring Norma Shearer is coming to the Dauphin Theatre.

Farewell Banquet for B and B Master Herb Amos

About 160 fellow employees gathered at Roseland Gardens Hamilton Hotel Dauphin to honor Herbert Amos on his transfer as B and Lb Master of the Portage division of the C N R with Winnipeg office. Attendees from Saskatoon to Hudson's Bay Junction heard tributes and viewed an illuminated address and gold purse presentation.

Theft of two mares and gear reported in Birnie Man

Provincial Police investigate the theft of two black mares a harness set and a buggy at Birnie Manitoba. One mare remains unidentified and may have strayed from Dauphin district. A foaled black mare with nose spot stands 13 hands high and weighs about 1200 to 1300 pounds and is in James Gardner's care at Oakburn. Information should be sent to Inspector Cunningham Dauphin. Also listed is Zane Grey's The Man of the Forest at the Dauphin Theatre on Monday and Tuesday.
