Increased Efficiency At Power Plant Report Indicates

A late December report shows power plant efficiency rising with peak load reaching 520 kilowatts, compared to 460 last year and 440 year before. Six year production totals climb from 1934 to 1939, with 1939 at 1,447,400 KWh and fuel use at 4860.2 cords, up from 1937.

Dauphin Short Course Set for March 12–15

The Dauphin Agricultural Society short course committee announced the annual boys and girls judging contest and short course in agriculture and home economics will run from March 12 to 15. Manitoba Agricultural College extension service professors will lecture on agriculture and home economics. Classes cover poultry sheep swine horses cattle with prizes and cups for winners. Ages 15 to 19 for entrants. Activities include town hall poultry judging tours of Dauphin industrial sites and a joint closing session Friday night with the Rural Youth school providing the program.

Town Council Seeks Data on Water Supply and Costs

The council plans a full survey of Edwards Lake and its watershed to assess a water supply meeting heavy demand. An engineer and two assistants will survey the lake area while the fire brigade investigates direct fighting costs. The Dauphin Medical Association proposes a treatment charge schedule for relief cases. Councillors Amos Seton and Astwood, on a special committee, will meet the doctors to discuss the proposal.

Travellers Plan Annual Carnival in Dauphin

The Dauphin Commercial Travellers announce their annual winter carnival featuring two events. A Friday junior carnival with a queen crowning and costume contest precedes a Saturday Winnipeg Winter Club skating performance. Two Fast Hockey Games Set for Dauphin Weekend

Two fast hockey games highlight the weekend for Dauphin fans. Yorkton Midgets meet Dauphin’s rising junior team Friday at 8 PM in the Skating arena, followed by the Clark Cruisers from Winnipeg facing the Dauphin Intermediates Saturday at 9 PM. Dauphin eyes a strong comeback as Manitoba’s hockey town.

Little Ochre River Girl Donates Christmas Dollar

Patsy Wilson a paralyzed seven month old girl from Ochre River sends her Christmas dollar to the Finns in their fight for freedom. The donation was received by the Finish relief committee in Winnipeg and accompanied by a note signed Patsy, with her mother’s hand completing the signing.
