Long Arm of Law Claimed a Thief in Almonte
A stable in the town’s south end was broken into and harness parts taken. Chief Everett traced clues leading to Murray Gilmour a former resident of the town at Almonte Ont and arrested him. Missing articles were found in his possession. The case rests with Ontario Attorney General’s Department.

Death of Edmund MecKinstry in Dauphin at 42
Edmund Elwin MecKinstry died at Brandon after a prolonged illness on Wednesday morning 24th May. He lived in Dauphin over twenty years and worked in the livery business with his father and brother Bird. A former noted hockey player, he is survived by a wife two children his aged mother and father and brother Bird. Funeral at Presbyterian church Friday 26th inst 2 30 Interment Riverside cemetery. Agricultural Society directors met to appoint delegates to Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie.

Comrades Share Visits as Meetings Span Month
Meeting nights next month fall on the 1ath and 28th. Comrade T Bradley, the district’s oldest veteran, is confined to his bed and welcomes any comrade visits. Tickets are out for a benefit night on Tuesday February 6th. The Permanent Players provide a strong show while F Neely is chosen as delegate to the Provincial Convention in Winnipeg next month. Ladies resume card parties and the Auxiliary hosts a curlers supper during the bonspiel. Comrade Hilton from the Pas visited this week and praised our home. Mrs Burton reports a street loss of money, a serious family matter.

Sisters of Providence propose taking over Dauphin Hospital
The Lady Superior of the Sisters of Providence Moose Jaw met the Dauphin Hospital board proposing transfer of ownership to the Order. The deal includes keeping current staff under contracts, and within five years building a new 40 bed hospital if feasible. The town would continue water and light support and update operating room equipment.
