Robert Cruise longtime Dauphin area farmer and ex Member of Parliament died at his home January 16 after a long illness. Born December 11 1868 in La Chute Quebec he moved to Manitoba in 1890, was a Mountview district farmer, municipal councillor 1903 1911 and Liberal then Unionist MP for Dauphin in 1911. Survived by wife three sons and two daughters, with one son killed in war and a daughter drowned in Halifax rescue attempt. Funeral at the Baptist Church and burial Riverside Cemetery.
The Rural Municipality of Dauphin holds its 1932 council with committees named for Building Police and Sanitation Public Works Cemetery and more. A Court of Revision will sit March 2 1932 at 7 00 am to revise the 1930 assessment roll for 1932.

The Rural Municipality of Dauphin passes a motion opposing the Winnipeg back to the land scheme to settle 200 unemployed families on farms. Council urges the province to bear municipal liabilities if the plan proceeds and asks Premier Bracken and others to back similar resolutions.
Eighty five members gathered at the Brierley Hotel for a mid season banquet following the president versus vice president club competition. President Geo H Vasbinder chaired and credited the growth to new rink draws and lower fees. Jas L Bowman MP praised the club’s management and noted many young curlers joining. Speakers highlighted progress, and the event featured songs and a supper provided by Walter Brierley.
Edgar C. Batty a longtime Dauphin resident and former fire brigade chief died Sunday Jan 17 after a life of public service. Born in London England on Aug 26 1869 he came to Canada 47 years ago settling at Portage la Prairie before moving to Dauphin. He served in the Canadian forces in the great war and lost a son in the same conflict. He was married to A L Woods and had a large family including daughters Mrs Shelp Vancouver and Jessie and sons Gordon Buffalo Sydney and Harold. Funeral at Baptist Church with Rev D Ritchie and burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Manitoba School Trustees Association will skip its usual three day convention this year and instead launch extensive activity through local associations in municipalities. The decision was made at a Tuesday meeting of the executive on the 12th with assent from the department of education, aiming to save school districts the cost of sending delegates.

Members of the Badminton Club held a reception at the Town Halls on Saturday afternoon. Nearly all members attended with guests as visitors enjoyed court play and tea service organized by Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. McLachlin, Mrs. Simmie, and others.
At a literary meeting seven Dauphin Cadet Battalion members received cadet signalling and rifle badges. James Mayze of North Vancouver, formerly Dauphin, died January 5 after a short illness. funeral January 11 at Capilano Cemetery.
Roy Kennedy tried to punch through to Dauphin by car on Monday but hit a drifting section between River Bend school and Valley River bridge and gave up. Three or four men with a truck and shovels could clear it quickly, with no drifts between there and Sifton. A letter from W. S. McPhe drain, visiting Hudson Ont., says he is recovering from an operation and expects to be in Sifton by the 29th.
The Dauphin Little Theatre held its first club performance of the season on January 13 1932 featuring a one act play. Committees directed by Mrs RM Watt Mrs Garry Peebles handled staging makeup lighting and music with cast members led by Robert Fagen Phyllis Saunderson Lyle McDermid and Eric Saville. The Dauphin Collegiate orchestra directed by Mr Caners performed several numbers and a monologue by Mrs Percy Eastman was well received. The next meeting on January 27 will study John Drinkwater and his drama with a Drinkwater reading and records plus a short talk on play producing principles. Membership drive encouraged.
