The town's law and order report credits the B C M P for keeping crime under control during 1943. It records 361 new complaints versus 316 in 1942, 74 highway warnings up from 19, and 171 town by law warnings down from 276. Juvenile offences rose in the last quarter of the year.
The notice sets January 20 as the registration deadline for vehicles in operation and states police will issue warnings to offenders through January. After January 31 warnings end and action will be taken under the Highway Traffic Act for unlicensed driving.
Former RCMP constable Scott Harrington chased a thief from E F Fox's jewellery store to a local hotel and helped recover an $81.25 watch. Walter Hupailo of Sifton district pleaded guilty to theft and liquor charges, receiving fines of 30 plus 5.75 costs and 20 respectively.

John S. Allen appeared before Magistrate Thos. Littie on Tuesday morning charged with two forgery counts two uttering counts and four false pretenses counts. He was remanded to Thursday January 20. The charges relate to worthless cheques cashed in Dauphin during the past two months totaling 202.50 dollars.

Three Dauphin rinks swept district matches at Ochre River to earn spots in the Manitoba bonspiel events. In singles J L Allard led his rink to a 125 victory over Joe Christ while Ab Gowanlock and Geo Scott won doubles. District umpire G R Watson awarded ribbons to the winning teams.
Major Gordon M Churchill among 23 army personnel honored for service decorations announced last week. Overseas with the Canadian Armoured Corps he received the Canadian Efficiency Decoration. Former principal of Dauphin Collegiate, he later joined Winnipeg teaching staff. Mrs Churchill leads the Hostess club at Meafra? daughter Winona serves with the WRNS at Cornwallis NS.

Dauphin urgently seeks ten local men to volunteer for the Blood Donors clinic on Tuesday January 25. Without sufficient volunteers the clinic’s work could fail and lives may be at risk. Previous clinic drew 26 women and 23 donations. Volunteers may enroll at the Blood Donors headquarters beside the Dauphin Theatre.
An Armoury ceremony saw Fort Garry’s C Squadron bid farewell to commanding officer Captain E V Dobson who departs soon after handing over command to Lieutenant A D McKee. McKee presented a gold ring embossed with the Fort Garry crest as officers and men toasted the outgoing leader. Music and singing followed the lunch led by R Q M S W Brown.
A Prentice taxi driven by Geo McKenzie collided with a disabled truck on No 5 highway east of town about 7 PM Saturday. The wheeled truck swerved into the road as the taxi passed. both vehicles sustained damage but no one was injured.
The first regular Town council meeting revealed a tentative post war development program nearly a year old. A deputy minister inquiry showed plans to aid returning servicemen, with projects including a filtration plant, water and sewer extensions, a municipal office, fire hall and police station, and streets and parks at an estimated total of 541000. Financing shares and federal contributions remained undetermined as council awaits details.
