DMCC will hold its annual meeting in the DMC Board room on Wednesday January ZA. Elections will choose board members with two year terms as town representatives Ed Johan sen Adam Nicselson and Helen Marsh. One year terms go to A E Ted Scrase Georg L Dowler Sam Leskin Bill Forbes and Walter Durston for rural representation.

Tran J Mauit, civil defence officer for the northern zone of Manitoba, informs Dauphin councils that the emergency committee is forming for the Dauphin area. The region includes Dauphin, Dauphin Rural, Mossey River RM, and Winnipegosis, with Dauphin town as the emergency centre. Two representatives from each municipality join the central committee to appoint a director and organize seven volunteer groups for welfare health auxiliary police fire engineering rescue warden services and related planning.

Three-Widely Contested Town Council Election Set
A three way race for the town council seat to serve the 1961 62 term will be decided on Friday January 26 with Fred Chaykowski Cooney Grant and Murray A McKillop as candidates. Dauphin Fire Dept. Re-Elects Leadership for 1962
Gordon Harrison returns as fire chief for the 13th year, with George Scott as deputy and Jim Beaton as assistant deputy chief. In 1961 the department logged 54 fire calls with losses of 3720 dollars, excluding the Hydro plant fire, and credits Fire Prevention Week and inspections for reduced losses.

Local Entries Win Provincial Honors In Slide Contests
Mrs. B. C. Goodhand of the Dauphin Horticultural Society won three prizes in the Manitoba Horticultural Association slide contest. She earned two prizes in cut flower arrangements for gladiolus and roses and driftwood in oriental vein, and third in trees and shrubs for a Peegee hydrangea slide.

Mayor Harold Mobberley reports on 1961 progress in Yauphin. town growth surpassed 7,000 residents at 7,378. Waterworks expanded with 8,500 feet of extensions and 130 connections, plus Elm Park project and Moon lake water plan. Public works added curb and gutter, sidewalks, asphalt paving, road gravel, and concrete paving. Building permits reached a new high of 202 with construction value of 2,387,705.00.

Municipal Board Rulings On Rural Appeals in Dauphin Area
The Municipal Board of Manitoba heard rural appeal cases on Dec 11 and 2. It increased reduced assessments by amounts from 200 to 1000 dollars for nine parcels owned by seven ratepayers including W W Lock and J Potoski. Dauphin Hosts Banquet for Local School Patrol Boys
Twenty six patrol boys who guard crossings near Dauphin elementary schools were hosted by the town and Lions Club in mid December at the Kings hotel banquet room. Constables Don Fox and Jim King supervised. Mayor H J Moberley and others attended. After the banquet the group enjoyed a theatre party.
