Dauphin Board of Trade Holds Annual Meeting

The Dauphin Board of Trade held its annual meeting in the Town Halls with a banquet at 6 45. Wm. Voss was reelected president for a third consecutive term and W. G. White became vice president. A. E. Parker of Winnipeg spoke urging lower interest rates and stronger tourist promotion. Directors were named for one and two year terms and Dauphin reported a 15.5 percent gain in bank clearings in 1934 versus 1933.

Unemployed Association Dance Planned in Town Hall

A dance organized by the Unemployed Association is set for Friday February 5th in the town hall. The notice notes a social event date and venue for affected residents seeking community support. Ukrainians Celebrate Christmas January 7

The Ukrainians of Dauphin and nearby districts celebrated Christmas on the Juvenile Calendar date. The Children's club led by Jack A. Yurkin sponsored a concert with a Bethlehem tableau, Ukrainian village scene, butterfly dance, recitations, and folk songs. St Nicholas arrived with an angel, giving presents to participating children.

Night of Fun draws large crowd at Dauphin ice arena

Over eight hundred citizens attended the Dauphin skating arena for the hockey association event titled Night of Fun. The program featured boxing exhibition, Ukrainian Folk Dance by Dauphin group, an Elks versus bankers broomball game, skating races won by Miss Naida Wilkinson and Mervyn Weir, tap dancing, juvenile hockey games, a moccasin dance, and music by the Dauphin Citizens Band.

UFM President to Speak in Dauphin District

J S Wood of Oakville Manitoba provincial president of the United Farmers of Manitoba arrives in Dauphin to address organized farmers. He will visit Spruce Creek Keld Dauphin Plains and Ochre River using Dauphin as HQ to explain the Marketing Bill from the UFM point of view.

Rotary Club Hears of Council Plans for 1935

Dauphin council members outlined 1934 progress and 1935 plans at the Rotary Club luncheon. Robert Fagen described municipal unit formation and limits of council authority under the Municipal Act. Mayor D. D. McDonald praised achievements such as unified utilities and town improvements. Jas L Bowman MP reaffirmed support as Ottawa attends, urging ratepayer backing.
