Mafeking Cutoff Survey Underway to Parliament
E N McGirr of the Mafeking Cutoff association was told by Jas L Bowman that Dr Manion the railways minister said survey work has begun. Surveyors started January 10 from Winnipeg with two car loads of gear aiming to map a Mafeking to The Pass short line. The project needs about six weeks to finish, after which plans go to parliament in March.

Funeral for Mrs Barbara Puchalski of Dauphin
The funeral for Mrs Barbara Puchalski wife of Councillor John Puchalski of Dauphin was held Wednesday January 14 at St Viator Roman Catholic Church with Rev Father Holloway officiating. Council members attended. burial at Riverside Cemetery with pallbearers listed. She was born in Poland December 18 1899 and came to Canada as an infant. She had two husbands, two sons and seven surviving relatives, recent illness following New Year operation led to septicemia death.

Two Dauphin curlers in Grandview on Saturday failed to lift the Cruise shield by two points as Grandview won 27 to 26. Final ends saw both clubs 4 up and 4 down. Grandview’s Roy Cameron and Noble Boles led 12 and 15 while Dauphin’s Chas Steen and J L Bowman posted 14 and 12. The shield, donated in 1919 by M.P. Robert Cruise, has cycled among Dauphin Roblin Gilbert Plains and Grandview for over a decade amid many inter-town ice battles.
