Northern metropolis chosen as main point for dog race to Winsigeg during Winter Carnival. Teams begin Monday Feb 6 with plans to reach Win as carnival runs. The Board of Trade will supply frozen fish for feeding the dogs around Feb 3.
The Dauphin Musical Society will present The Gondoliers in concert form and develop a selection of part songs. New members are invited as vacancies exist for male voices contraltos and a few sopranos. Intending members should attend the next Mackenzie School rehearsal on Tuesday.
A community card party is planned for Wednesday in January on Earth Avenue under Catholic auspices. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Local Council of Women met Tuesday evening January 10 in the Host Room. Ten affiliated societies reported a successful year and committees outlined broader relief work. Officers elected include Hon. President Mrs J B McIntyre President Mrs Bready 1st Vice Mrs Wellman 2nd Vice Mrs Neville 3rd Vice Mrs Terry 4th Vice Mrs Moore Recording Secretary Mrs Bewell Corresponding Secretary Mrs Steick Treasurer Mrs Bennett Conveners include Miss Street for Health Mrs Batty for Citizenship and Mrs Medill for Better Laws for Women and Children.
Town organizations, led by the Red Cross Society, keep winter help organized with minimal overlap. They seek out overlooked families in need and request reports to Ramsay-Wright Ltd. contact Mr F T Wright for assistance.
The winter favors outdoor skating with Rose's and Rawson's rinks in high use every evening. Ice is well maintained and well lit by town electric lights. Bands play three nights a week and comfortable dressing rooms are provided at both rinks.
The Dauphin Furniture Co launches a January clearance offering one third off all hand painted china. Shoppers save on selected dinnerware as part of the store’s seasonal sale event.
The St Viator's Church congregation plans a new church at the corner of Second Street and Second Avenue Northwest. Estimated cost is fifteen thousand dollars.
Dauphin defeated Grandview 5 to 1 in the season opener witnessed by a large crowd. Bryce starred in goal for Dauphin while Duchesneau Walker Taylor and Isman led the attack. Referee F Buie oversaw the clean contest with a return game set for Grandview on Friday January 13.
Saturday night hockey between Bankers and C N R ended in a 3 3 tie after a spirited contest. The game featured rough play with calls for a neutral period judge and the final period saw C N R press Bankers' zone without overtime. Lineups included Macdonald Robertson Machan Curtis Clarke Thomson for C N R and Goel Stewart D Rickins Tucker McNabb Leach for Bankers.
A local advertisement promotes a clearance sale with one-third off all upholstered furniture including easy chairs and rockers. It also highlights new classes at a business college starting Monday as a valuable life training opportunity.
The Chil dren's Aid Society held its annual meeting in the Town Hall on Monday evening with Rev. H P Barrett presiding. About 50 attendees discussed urgent needs for a new home and reviewed committee reports. A building plan was approved and a Town of Dauphin donation noted.
The first 1922 meeting chaired by Mayor Smith reviewed routine business and Rest Room management. Budget approved with a 626.06 grant. delegates named for the Manitoba Municipalities convention. tax reform proposal urged. salaries set for town officials. council adjourned to December 26.

The January 6 meeting drew 38 members, the year’s largest turnout. Officers for the year were to be nominated from a posted list in the Rest Room. Members not wishing to stand were asked to erase their names promptly. A guest tea fundraiser is planned for January 13 at the G W V A Hall to boost funds.
Dr Walter J Wickes of Spruce Creek donated flour to aid 48S St the Needy families. Wheat from Dauphin Co delivered to the town. Mayor Smith placed the flour for distribution to those in need.

The Children’s Aid Society thanks all donors who helped provide a Christmas home for the children. Contributions ranged from cash and box gifts to concert proceeds totaling 17.40 from E. J. Murray’s note, with many named supporters including Mrs R J Basset, Cameron and Heap, Rev and Mrs Neville, Dauphin Trading Co, and local schools.
About 100 different species of poultry were shipped to Swan River on Wednesday to be exhibited at the show this week. Notables sending birds include J. B. McIntyre with White Wyandottes, Wm. Murray with White Leghorns, Orpingtons and Rocks, Fred Douglas with White Leghorns and Rocks, A. E. Iredale with Partridge Wyandottes and Black Langshane, Prank Weldin, S.C. Anconas.
