M D Canvass Slated For Next Tuesday

The annual March of Dimes canvass for the Society for Crippled Children and Adults will be held Tuesday evening in Dauphin and the Ectipee district. Odd Fellows lodge No 36 and Hebeksh lodge No 13 organize for the seventh consecutive year to raise funds for crippled children, polio victims, and related services.

Musicians To Perform Here Monday In Dauphin

Do It Now Campaigns Urge Winter Employment Across Communities

L. T. Fraser of Winnipeg urges an all out effort to boost winter jobs. He says Canada loses about 300 million yearly in production wages and purchasing power due to winter slowdowns. He notes campaigns across the prairie region and calls on businesses and homes to create work through repairs installations and farming overhauls.

New Manager Appointed For Employment Office

H W Todd Teillet arrives in Dauphin to lead the National Employment Service branch after C F Bullmore retires. A 1945 claims officer in Winnipeg, he later managed the Kenora branch and was born in St. Vital 1921. He served as a RAF pilot officer overseas, married in 1944, and now resides at 122 Seventh Avenue SE with five children.

Charles F Bullmore retires as NES Dauphin manager

Charles F Bullmore retires after 15 years as manager of the National Employment Service Dauphin office effective December 31. Born in Minnedosa in 1901, he worked at Union Bank, RCMP and as a private investigator before civil service. Hugh Campbell presented a meritorious service certificate on December 28.

Dauphin Athletic Council Names 1962 Officers

Councillor Nick Shwets will lead the Dauphin Athletic Council for 1962, marking nine years on the body and a fourth term as chair. The inaugural meeting appointed Frank Bumstead Steve Hawrysh R E Hartl T K Kolkind A W McLaren L Hill N J Perepeluk as citizen members and N Shwets J L Tycholis as town representatives with Jack Petura as secretary. Winter Snowfall Signals Strong Spring Moisture Ahead

The second day of the new year brought 40 degree warmth followed by snow that added 5.6 inches over four days with traces on two days. If this early snow is any indication, expect continued snowfall and improved moisture leading into spring rains.

W T Volkers was re-elected chair for a third year at the Dauphin-Ochré Area school board statutory meeting. John L. Tycholis was re elected chairman of the Dauphin school district No. 905 for the fourth year at the 1961 augural meeting held January 3. Mrs. W. E. Barber was named vice chairman. Whitmore Transfer Moves Western Grocers Supervisor to Yorkton

Harry F. Whitmore, longtime Western Grocers Dauphin branch employee since 1946, transfers to Yorkton Saskatchewan as retail supervisor serving a large area. Born in Dauphin, he started as a warehouse man and became a salesman in recent years after four and a half years with the Royal Engineers and Infantry. He and his wife have three children Mervin Beth and Sharon and he has been active in the Association for Retarded Children.

Town Applies Licenses For Auto Trailer Courts

New Town passes a by law requiring licenses for auto trailer courts and restricting house trailers to authorized sites. It defines house trailers and auto trailer courts and sets a 50 dollar annual license fee plus five dollars per trailer space over ten, with provincial regulations apply. Operators must file plans and keep occupier registers noting employment status.
