Mission Circle Annual Meeting at Mrs Bennett Home

The Dauphin Baptist Mission Circle met at Mrs. Bennett's for devotion and monthly business. Officers listed include President Mrs A Bennett and 1st Vice Mrs H A Hillman with a year’s total missions raise of 2199 dollars for 1918.

Five Hundred party at Daly home and two marriages noted

A social evening at Mr. and Mrs Brent Daly on 4th avenue featured a Five Hundred game with prizes won by Pearl Dwyer, George Hume, and W Willis. Also announced were the marriages of Eugene Monder to Henry Michaud at Sacred Heart church and Harry Hartford to Miss Fryer with honeymoon trips planned.

Town Council Holds Organization Meeting

The town council met on the 7th lnst with the mayor and most councillors present. After swearing in new members, they adopted last meeting minutes and granted Imperial Oil Co. a spur track on Ist Avenue NE. Crowe and Malcolm were appointed to press the rail company. Salaries for hall caretaker, waterworks assistant, power house fireman, teamster, clerk’s assistant, and stenographer were increased. A by-law to borrow 850,000 from the Bank of Ottawa was read and passed. Night Constable Gordon’s appointment caused debate. temporary status noted with possible permanent return soldier consideration. Gordon from Portage la Prairie earns 100 monthly.

Dauphin Curling Club Seeks Boost For Bonspiel Meeting

A general meeting of the Dauphine Caring Club is set for tonight in Wallwin's store at 7 15 pm to settle matters for the annual bonspiel. The club, active and growing, reports strong curling interest and a notably successful New Year’s Day competition won by J Barker’s rink.

Woman's Aid society holds annual meeting

The Woman's Aid society met on the 6th with strong attendance. President Mrs. Walker chaired as reports showed satisfactory work. Treasurer's report shows receipts 1160.17 expenditures 682.59 balance 47.64. Incoming officers: President Mrs. E. B. Walker First Vice Mrs. D. D McDonald Second Vice Mrs. McKinstry Rec. Rural schools open as teachers remain scarce

Schools and Teachers report a shortage of teachers across rural areas. This week Sandringham opened with Miss Dorothy Haw as teacher, Listowel with Miss Wilma Turner, Mountyiew with Miss Margaret Parker, and Burrows with Miss Finnie as teacher.
