On December 22nd John Storozenko appeared before Magistrate Little charged with unlawfully practicing as a veterinary surgeon. He faced allegations of treating domestic animals for sickness and performing surgical operations. He was fined 20 dollars plus 4.75 dollars costs or one month in gaol. the fine was paid.

Local youth loses finger in meat grinder accident
Gordon McLean a local youth employed at Scrase butcher shop lost the first finger on his right hand while grinding meat Wednesday morning. His finger was crushed before he could reach the switch. he was rushed to Dauphin General Hospital where an amputation operation was performed.

A Tuesday morning blaze on a farm 124 miles northeast of Minitonas claimed five children Kathrine and Irene Graham their baby brother and Mary and George McKenzie. The mothers were away in the barn when the fire was discovered. by then the flames were too strong to rescue the youngsters.

Cecil Patterson operator of WE4WW on Main Street North Dauphin received a postcard Monday morning saying his short wave signals were picked up in London England on December 20 1936. Patterson signals on the 40 meter band were received by F W Evans of 94 Birkbeck Road Tottenham N 17 London England. The card said the signals were fairly strong and readable with no difficulty.

Safe smashed at local wholesale grocers raid
Thieves broke into Macdonald's Consolidated Ltd wholesale grocers early Wednesday. They pried open the front door, carried the safe to the basement, and removed sixty to seventy dollars in cash and most of the stock, leaving cheques and papers. The merchandise amount was not yet known. A vehicle was used to haul the loot.
