Livestock Shows Planned for Northern Manitoba in 1955
At the Northern Manitoba Livestock association annual meeting on December 15 plans were made for 1955 shows and sales. A purebred cattle, bred sow and fat stock show and sale is set for May 13 with entries open to Angus Hereford and Shorthorn breeds. Bulls must be one year or older. sows must be bred by February 20 and guaranteed in pig. The fat stock show welcomes 4 H and commercial calves in separate classes, with top calves from each group contending for the grand champion. The fall calendar includes a sheep and swine show and sale with 25 boars and 15 rams. Officers elected were Howard Campbell president, Walter Ward vice-president, and Dave Hill secretary. The 1955 committee members span Roblin to Dauphin across numerous towns.

Council Committees Set Up For This Year
The Dauphin town council at Tuesday's meeting named D W Hinatrux as vice chair of the public works and airfield committee replacing J Anderson. Four deputy mayors will serve quarter terms representing the four vacant seats. McLean leads the fire water and sewage committee with nineeteen-year tenure. Anderson and Buckwold hold other chairs. The council outlined standing committees and appointments including town planning cemetery board band and library board with several members and replacements. A separate motion assigned E Johansen and E N McGirr to prepare a brief for the Municipal Assessment Equalization and Appeal board amid protests over the new rural urban assessment balance.
