Rose Ball dazzles at town hall New Year's Eve event

Nearly four hundred guests attended the Rose Ball hosted by Lieut. Stuart Widmeyer Chapter of the LODE in the town hall. The evening featured a grand march, ornate decorations, and a late buffet luncheon amid festive ambiance and New Year revelry.

Local Council of Women Holds Annual Meeting

The Local Council of Women gathered Monday night with eight of eleven societies represented. Reports praised work done, Ma Gill outlined Junior Red Cross efforts urging mother involvement, and Mrs. Beer announced 176.10 from Blind Institute sales. Officers elected include President Mrs. Bready and Vice Presidents Mrs. Middleton, Mrs. Lyon, Mrs. Fulton, Mrs. Farrell, Treasurer Mrs. Bennett, Rec. Secretary Mrs. J. A. Gorby Carr, Secretary Mrs. Harrington, Convenors led by Education Mrs. D. D. McDonald and others such as Public Health Miss Cotter and Citizenship Mrs. Watt. Salvation Army Annual Banquet At Oddfellows Hall

The Salvation Army held its annual banquet at Oddfellows Hall on December 31 with many leading citizens attending. Ensign S Joyce presided as Adjutant White spoke on Army education work in Punjab and the fight against criminal tribes, followed by greetings from Dauphin officials.

Old Time Resident Dies in Winnipeg

In Winnipeg on December 29, Mrs. Simon Silverstein longtime Dauphin resident died at 65. Survived by three daughters Mrs. J Buckwold of Dauphin Mrs. D Pereles and L Leipsic of Winnipeg and son Hymie who served in the war and was killed in a crash after joining the flying corps. The report lists extensive town council committee appointments and 1927 municipal officers and boards across Dauphin and Sifton districts.

Ukrainian National Hall hosts Bracke Government convention

About fifty delegates gathered at the Ukrainian National Hall on Monday to organize for the coming election. N A Hryhorczuk MLA spoke along with others. officers named P Sawczyn President J Pelehaty Secretary and Mrs S Wyshnecki Treasurer. Santa Claus visited homes at Christmas and a party for forty guests followed at the hall with games dancing and lunch.

Anniversary of St James Observed with Special Speaker

The St James anniversary will be held Sunday the 16th with a special speaker at both services. The Rev John McKay of Manitoba College will speak. Monday at 8 pm a special programme follows. Full particulars will be provided in the press next week.

Old Year Out New Year In Celebration at Pol len Hall

About two hundred members and friends gathered at Pol len hall on Friday night December 1 to bid farewell to the old year and greet the new one. The night featured songs and dancing ending with a threefold chorus of A quid New Year to one and an. Some attendees reflected on past celebrations away from Dauphin as the crowd dispersed in the early hours.

Dauphin Fire Brigade Elects Officers at Yearend Meeting

The Dauphin Fire Brigade held its annual meeting on December 30 electing Chief E C Batty Asst Chief R C Smith Secretary J S Oliphant and Treasurer Robt Fagen. A new ladder truck will soon be ready and an entertainment is planned for January 14. The four officials each have twenty years or more service with the brigade.

Liberal Association meeting appoints new provincial committee

A Liberal Organization meeting in the Rest Room organized a provincial riding committee with an almost entirely new lineup to replace the dominion executive. Delegates to the Winnipeg convention on Jan 12-13 were named: F. E. Simpson, A. Bennett, D. McLeod, Mrs. C. A. Gofton, and Mrs. R. M. Smith.

New Year's Day Dog Race Draws Crowd on River Burrows Course

A New Year dog race drew strong spectator turnout though few entrants. The half mile track ran from the river bend on Burrows Avenue to the Post Office. In prelims A. Hoskins, P. Phillips and De Craig won. In the final Hoskins took first prize, followed by Phillips and De Craig.
