Town Council Sets 1946 Schedule and Appointments
The 1945 town council met in the council chamber with Mayor Bullmore presiding. New and returning councillors were named, committees formed, and nights for regular meetings set as the second and fourth Mondays of each month in 1946. A joint committee was created to liaise with the Rural Municipality of Dauphin. Solomon named deputy mayor.

Warnock Named King’s Counsel in New Year Honor List
Allan Thomas Warnock of Dauphin, a longtime resident and lawyer since 1924, is appointed King’s Counsel in the provincial government list. Born December 1899 in Ukraine, he was educated in North Battleford and Saskatchewan University, and active in Liberal politics, local council, and Ukrainian Canadian affairs. He is married with two children Yvonne and Lynn.

Partnership to Expand Carpenter Business in Dauphin
The Crag Bros. former Dauphin business will become Dauphin Furniture Manufacturing Co. under Paul Fedirchuk from Winnipeg and Fred Kunka formerly of Ukraina. They will continue carpenter work and sash door manufacture and start furniture and woodwork including upholstery.

Santa Visits Dauphin for Legion Christmas Parade
The Dauphin Legion branch hosted a pre Christmas event on December 22 with Santa Claus touring town in a one horse open sleigh then delivering hundreds of presents at the Legion hall. Committee chair Ben Yallop led organizers including L W Payne W Barr B Edgar Chris Johnston Bill Rowan Al McEhinney H Porter and Mrs A Beaumchamp with the ladies auxiliary preparing the parcels for all attendees.

Lions Club Plays Santa For Children In Hospital
The Dauphin Lions club visited Dauphin General Hospital spreading Christmas cheer. Old St Nicholas distributed gifts and fruit and candy to each patient as the committee dressed for the holiday walked the wards. A 12 year old received his first glimpse of Santa and the hospital staff sang carols with Walter Davroch at the piano.

Town Council Winds Up Year's Work
The Dauphin council closed its year with three long by laws and final accounts. It debated a postwar water filtration plan and a seven year old by law needing overhaul. Debentures for sewer work on Seventh Avenue and Jackson Street were authorized.

At the Dauphin branch of the Canadian Legion No. 20 Cana dian Legion B E S L a Dec 27 meeting J E Burton was re elected president for 1946 with A Buckwold Walter Darroch B J Yallop A Olyphant as officers. The slate also includes E J Miles C E Steen D Justice L G Sneath F H Bebb with N Douglas as sergeant at arms and Archdeacon H E Bridgett as chaplain. A banquet by Norman Chan preceded the meeting and Mayor and Mrs Johnston hosted refreshments after adjournment.

Dauphin Loses Hockey Opener To Neepawa
Neepawa defeated Dauphin 4 3 in the 1945 46 season opener as ex servicemen filled both rosters. Dauphin led briefly after an early goal flurry but Neepawa held the two goal edge late the first period. Dauphin’s offence sparked by Wickens Kerr Roy and Weir faced stiff defence from Roy Alf Haddrell and Hains in a hard fought exhibition before 567 spectators.
