Coroner’s jury finds death from mature causes in Geo Filti case

The coroner's jury ruled Geo Filti died of mature causes after post mortem showed heart enlargement and brain hemorrhage connected to months of illness and medical treatment. Dr Rogers presided. jurors included E. Armstrong foreman and others. A separate note reports Charles Hoskins, 62, a CN shop mechanic, died by suicide with carbolic acid amid distress over charges and job loss. inquest deemed unnecessary. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery after service in Farrell's Parlors led by Rev Middleton.

Trio of Premature Births At Dauphin General Hospital

Mr and Mrs Mike Hroyski of Grandview welcomed a boy and two girls at Dauphin General Hospital on Saturday afternoon. All three infants were premature and died shortly after birth with the boy passing at 1 hour 25 minutes and the girls at 55 minutes each.

Winter Fair of the Dauphin Agricultural Society

The Winter Fair scheduled for the first week in March features a short course and judging contest with prizes for calves and colts exhibited by boys and girls. Silver cups medals and about 4 dollars in cash prizes will be awarded. Entries should be made early, especially for the calves and colts classes.

Rural Council Denies Rest Room Grant at Dunuphin

At the 1929 Dunuphin Rural Municipality meeting the Rest Room committee sought the annual grant of 625 for ongoing work. The motion to approve the grant was evenly split and then defeated after the reeve declared the motion lost.

Milne Bride Weds Dr McPhail at Knox Church Winnipeg

Geraldine Estella Milne of Kalso British Columbia and Dr Lloyd D McPhail of Brandon Manitoba were married at Knox Church Winnipeg with Rev Prof Kerr officiating. Esther Donion of Dauphin was bridesmaid and Dr Charles Gammon of Virden was groomsman. The couple will reside in Dauphin.

Mink Creek Man Hangs Self in Barn

Pau Bihun aged 44 of Mink Creek in the Ethelbert district is found dead by hanging in a barn on his brother’s farm. Dr. Rogers, district coroner, states evidence supports self destruction. he was a bachelor living at the shack nearby.

Ladies' Society Installations Lead Winnipeg Chapter

Under Mrs. Wicks and Mrs. Condor, a Ladies' Society of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen was organized in the Oddfellows hall on December 19. Officers installed include President Margaret Bateman and Secretary Marguerite Ballantyne, among others.
