Obituary of Dauphin district resident Inkster

Obituary notices the death of Inkster at his Dauphin home after a year of illness. Born in Poplar Pols in 1863, he moved to Dauphin in 190 and later to the Park River district. He farmed all his life and leaves wife Mary Wood, six children, brothers Joseph and Colin, with interment at Riverside Cemetery after services at St Pauls Anglican Church.

Death of Mrs Annie Leskiw after three years illness

Mrs Annie Leskiw aged sixty nine died at Dauphin December 24 after a lingering illness. Born in Hieszerwa Galicia Ukraine she married on February 1 1885 and moved to Canada in 187. The Leskiw family settled at Keld district Dauphin as early pioneers. She leaves husband eight children and twenty two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic church Dauphin at 11 am Friday December 27 with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs Gertrude Machan wife of Melville Machan died at home in Dauphin after long illness aged twenty nine born Carnduff Saskatchewan moved to Dauphin as a girl married ten years ago survived by husband son Ray five siblings Mrs J Vanone of Smeaton Mrs H Thompson of Carnduff parents Alfred Jack Clair brothers funeral held Saturday at the Dauphin United Church burial followed.

Mrs. Charlotte Moore Dies in Dauphin District at 82

Mrs. Charlotte Moore age eighty two, born Charlotte Craig, died at home Thursday. She married Ferguson Alexander Moore in 1870 and moved to the Dauphin district in 1895 where they farmed. Survived by three children and multiple siblings, funeral held Monday afternoon at the Apostolic church with burial in Riverside cemetery.

Separate Sales Tax Proposed For Provinces

A 1936 proposal considers higher total sales taxes to fund unemployment relief. Options include increasing the Dominion six percent tax earmarked for relief or granting provinces power to levy their own sales tax or expanding the base to a turnover tax. Ottawa would initiate the first move. provincial legislation would follow if tax authority shifts occur.

Mrs Rosina Wells Dies In Dauphin After Illness

Mrs Rosina Wells 67 native of Ontario died at her Dauphin home after a month illness. Maiden name McVey born Kingsville Ontario came west with her parents fifty four years ago. She married T E Wells in 1890 and they moved to Dauphin in 1898. Survived by husband and three sons Lloyd Chicago Edgar and Roy Dauphin, one brother W D McVey Harrow Ontario and two sisters Mrs Ella MelIlroy Windsor Ontario and Mrs Sarah Thornton Detroit. Funeral and burial planned after services at Pentecostal church.

Ladies Night at Dauphin Rotary Club Event

The Dauphin Rotary Club held a Ladies Night for 52 members and wives at Mackenzie School auditorium. The program featured a welcome by President M. D. McDonald, a Rotary Wheel gift, contests, social games, a whist contest won by Mrs. McGuirk, a humorous radio show parody led by Graham Mak Monee, and a final chorus.

Gilbert Plains Defeats Dauphin 4-3 Thursday Night

Gilbert Plains edged Dauphin 4-3 in a tight hockey game before a small crowd. J Misko opened the scoring for Dauphin, with Murray adding for Gilbert Plains to lead 2-0 at period end. In the third, May and Heard tied it briefly before Murray sealed the win for Gilbert Plains.

Fire Destroys Truck and Garage at Belt Bottling

The Belt Bottling Co on Gladys Street suffered the loss of a truck and its garage in a Tuesday fire. The blaze started at noon while the owner was away. a large drum of gasoline exploded, hampering fire crews. Insurance covers the truck but not the garage.

Christmas Dance Gala by Commercial Girls Association

The Commercial Girls Association held a large Christmas Dance at the town hall ballroom decorated with evergreens and holly. Miss Eileen McClarty of Regina performed multiple dances while her mother Mrs J McClarty accompanied and a committee including Miss Edna Town assisted.
