A Monday December 22 presentation by Lieut. Stuart Willmerger of LODE to the Dauphin Public Library included an oak framed picture of Queen Mivaleth and a solid oak revolving dictionary stand. Mrs A Koke spoke on LODE's educational aims and gifts were presented to library chairwoman Mrs BR Goodhand by Mrs VE Barter.

Little Theatre Proceeds With Festival Entry Plans
The Little Theatre plans to enter the three act play Arsenic and Old Lace in the Manitoba regional tests for the 1999 Dominion Drama Festival. A Dec 16 meeting set a $75 entry fee and royalty in the $800 total to send the cast to Winnipeg. Ozzie Hirschfield became business manager, with Hugh Fox and Stan Yates as stage managers. Treasurer Adam Nicholson reported finances. a Nov 26 28 run grossed 513, but net was about 65 as attendance fell.

The Dauphin chamber of commerce Christmas lighting contest judged on December 23 awarded St Pauls Home on Oak Street first prize for the biblical display. Second place went to R J Yeos Fifth Avenue N E display. Outdoor winners were Wally Goshulak and William McClernon tied for first and second. honorable mention to L Clyde. Indoor winner Nick Shwets with runner up Allan Watson. honorable mention to John Podworny. Judges Wes Timm and Bob MacKenzie.

Keith Deans Named Sheriff in Dauphin District
Keith Douglas Deans, long with Manitoba government service, is appointed sheriff of the Dauphin judicial district and superintendent of the Dauphin jail. He succeeds retiree W. J. Hilton, who served 1945 into the current year. John Watson was the district’s first sheriff. Deans studied in Winnipeg and Morden.
