The Dauphin Curling Club held its annual spiel with twenty local rinks and five from outside starting Monday. Play featured close matches in the Citizens Trophy and Burrows Trophy with several draws producing thirteen ends. The week closed with a 7 p.m. banquet at the Hamilton Hotel.

Musical Festival Announces Bernard Naylor Adjudicator
The School Musical committee announces Bernard Naylor will adjudicate the festival on May 22. Makinak Man in Fire Claims Life near Riding Mountain
A fatal fire in the Makinak district near Riding Mountain killed 73 year old Gilbert Mc Gregor Wilde whose shack burned completely. Bones found among the debris led RCMP to investigate. Wilde had moved from Oakville Manitoba 15 years ago. Survived by a daughter Rachel and four sons George Leslie Oscar and Bert, plus a brother and sister. Robert Robertson, 20, of Ochre River district was detained for examination. formal charges had not been laid.
