Gaol for Excise Act Offence In Manitoba Case
Andrew Bilash and Mike Oliznyk of Sifton Manitoba faced charges under the Excise Act in the R C M Police Court. Bilash was convicted after trial, fined 200 and costs and imprisoned for one month with six more months on failure to pay, totaling seven months in Dauphin jail. Oliznyk pleaded guilty as a second offender, given 500 and costs and six months, with six more months on default, totaling twelve months. Barrister A T Warnock defended Bilash. Not Guilty in Manslaughter Trial of Pine River Hunter
Mike Mayuk of Pine River was found not guilty of manslaughter over a December shooting mistaken for a deer. The verdict followed testimony from Prosecution witness Paul Wysny and a postmortem by Dr. R E Dicks. Mayuk admitted handling the rifle and fleeing after the fatal shot. jurors included J Floyde and C W Foreman among others. The Victory Chapter No. 6 Order of the Eastern Star held a colorful annual ball for Leuphin society at the town hall. The hall featured elaborate decorations, hostess corner, tea room stage buffet, and moonlight lighting. Mrs. A D Smith led planning with a reception committee and decor team. entertainment included a Whistling Chorus, Jack Burton and the Skylarks.

Winnipeg man jailed two years for McCreary shopbreaking
Frank Shura of Winnipeg Manitoba was sentenced to two years at Stoney Mountain penitentiary after pleading guilty in R C M P court to shopbreaking and theft. His arrest ended a long search that began in 1931 for the thief who broke into a general store at McCreary Manitoba and stole goods worth two hundred dollars.
