The store announces new stock including natural color pure linen from Ireland in multiple widths and colors and a range of durability raw silks in several shades. Also Cheviot serge suiting in navy sand copen purple brown and royal at three dollars and seventy five cents per yard.
A merchant offers heavy material overalls from 4.50, with full supply of lined and unlined work gloves. Spring work outfits promoted with a large assortment of shirts in weights colors and qualities. Boys' combination overalls priced 1.65 to 2.25 for sizes All.
Stocktaking is finished and space is needed for new goods and a recently purchased stock. Grab shoes at reasonable prices before the long price returns. Doctor's Special J. and T. Bell's Tetraulis Cotes.
Inland Revenue Officer J A Ball raided Winnipeg parties suspected of illegal whiskey manufacture. A mash and a large still were found. K D Philibert appeared before P M Hawkins on Wednesday and was fined $2 and costs.
At Alexandra lodge last meeting the order of business shifted slightly and presesations were a highlight. Past noble grands honored with P N G jewels included Mrs Wu Drinkwater Mrs R G Ferguson Mrs G King Mrs N J Murray Mrs M McKerchar Mrs Buckwold and Mrs H E Hunt. Jewels were also sent to Mrs S Code and Miss Nettie Clyde. Bro Rintoul received a gold inlaid fountain pen engraved as a token of respect. Dawn of Peace lodge Grandview members attended and Alexandra degree staff assisted. An hour of social time followed and a light lunch noon was served.
A list shows funds raised by Woman's Hospital Aid members with totals such as Mrs Johnston 3545 dollars and Mrs Harrington 1820, totaling 900.40. The text also reports local events: Mr and Mrs McArthur left for Victoria, H E Derick resumed CN rail ticketing, Sergt Coleridge to Lake Winnipegosis, Neepawa and Dauphin seek a new rink, and various community activities and meetings with dates and locations.
Classifieds show a Mrs M S Bready seeking a competent general servant for a modern house with wages and no children at Ard Avenue N E. Also a notice advertising immediate need for a first class bookkeeper correspondent and salesman returned soldier open for position with reply to Box 2 Gienella Man. Other items include sale of a team oven two cows and harness and sleighs and a vets surgeon from Edinburgh who will resume practice in Dauphin district.
After four weeks of training students write letters using PARAGON shorthand at ninety words a minute. The college invites calls or visits to learn about this education opportunity and training program.
The Forward Movement canvassing committees of four co operating Dauphin churches have worked since last Monday. Returns are not yet in, but chairs expect oversubscription in each church. Efforts aim to finish soon, with full funding likely and a demanding period ahead.
The Trimble Trophy finals are postponed until after the local bonspiel. The Roy Hamilton event began Monday night and remains ongoing. Dauphin Curling Club members will attend a Sunday service at the Methodist church before the bonspiel. Rev. J. A. Haw will lead.
La Veran I O D E chapter held its annual meeting on the sixth with 57 members present. Secretary Mrs. McCormack reported the year’s business remained active since the war and listed newly elected officers and councillors for the coming term.
Mr and Mrs J W Douglas died after contracting influenza. A telegram from Moose Jaw notified their passing. Mrs Douglas was formerly Miss Patterson and a graduate nurse of the local hospital. Mr Douglas and his son Arthur left for Moose Jaw.
The Lieut. Stuart Widmeyer Chapter 1.0.D.E. held its annual election last Wednesday evening. Elected were Hon. Regent Mrs. Colin Campbell and Regent Mrs. E. Widmeyer, with 1st Vice Hon. Regent Mrs. D. D. McDonald and 1st Vice Mrs. M. Zworon. Other officers include 2nd Vice Miss Mary McDonald, Secretary Miss M. A. Weather head, Asst.Secretary Mrs. F. Musgrave, Treasurer Miss A. Swartwood, Educational Sec. Miss K. Bates, Echo's Secretary Miss D. Stocker, and Standard Bearer Miss L. Iredale.
G WV A notes Comrade Maxwell vice president of the Dominion Command visited Dauphin last Thursday to explain reestablishment proposals. His address was appreciated and at the next meeting on February 19 the group will decide on acquiring permanent quarters for the association.
At Winnipeg on January 28 the Rev W D Thompson officiated the marriage of Wilfred Fulton to Bessie Bateman.
The ladies of St Viator's Catholic church plan a bazaar in the town hall on Tuesday February 17 with opening at 3 p.m. Tea and ice cream will be served in the afternoon. Shrove Tuesday dinner runs from 5 to 7:50 p.m. A progressive party offers prizes at 8 p.m. with refreshments after. Admission is free.

The community learned Monday of the death of Dr. Walter Ross in Ottawa after a brief illness with pneumonia. A former Dauphin resident for years, he served on the Health Board in Ottawa since the war and had many friends in Dauphin who welcomed him on a January visit.
Oil has been found on the farm of Mme. McKay across Late Dauphin, section 1 to ZS range IR, triggering a flurry of entrants at the Dominion Lands office over the past two or three days. Dauphin and Gladstone will play the Northwestern League final for the championship at Dauphin on Thursday next, the 19th inst.
