A local grocery lists sale prices for grains and dry goods. Granulated oatmeal three pounds for 25 cents, standard oatmeal three pounds for 25 cents, graham flour three pounds for 25 cents, whole wheat flour three pounds for 25 cents. Also Pat barley 2 pounds 25 cents, pearl barley two pounds 25 cents, Aunt Jemima pancake flour with maple syrup 85 cents, Jonathan apples varieties Grimes Golden Beauties 35 cents per box.
At Sanday church Rev J A Haw discusses the Manitoba Temperance Act, liquor interests, and doctors’ roles. He cites a $200 fund, Mayo telegram denying alcohol for Spanish influenza, and faulting prescription liquor sales with December 1918 figures showing high bottle counts and many prescriptions.
Mr A D Birney of Ochre River lost a pocketbook with 180 dollars 75 cents on the way to town. Allen Riddell of Dickson found it after reading the advertisement and returned the cash to the Herald office for prompt delivery to the owner.
Birth notices record a daughter born February 4 to Mr and Mrs W D McRae at Dauphin and a son born January 30 to Mr and Mrs Neil Birss at Dauphin. A death notice announces Thomas Taylor of Valley River died in Winnipeg at age 49 years 11 months.

The Dauphin general hospital governors met in the towne hall on Monday afternoon. President J. E. Wallwine presided as the treasurer reported year ending Nov 30 1918 with revenue 1349.25 from pay patients and municipalities and cash receipts 19427.14. expenditures 16716 leaving 2710.25 on hand. Total patient days 7319 up 516. patients treated 530 up 19. average cost per patient day 2.23 up .53. deaths 25, 4.64 percent. Dr Culbertson’s loss noted. Dr N Garfield Trimble added. The La Veran drye Chapter 1 C D E met Saturday with strong attendance. Secretary Mrs. Walker reported year funds totaling 1816.40 with programs including 271 pyjamas 581 socks 252 fomentation wringers and 226 personal property bags sent to lonely soldiers. Officers elected include Hon Regent G W Walker and Regent Mrs G King among others. funds allocated to Red Cross and various charities.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Great War Veterans invites all to a moccasin dance this Friday February 7 with a band and refreshments. The auxiliary met Tuesday night with strong attendance and approved continuing tea sales. This week tea will be at Mrs J Weaver 600 Main St. next Thursday February 13 at Mrs M McNabb near Blackadar greenhouse.
The Soldiers' Aid society hosts a masquerade at the town hall on Friday February 14. Cards showing each guest’s character must be handed in at the door. Returned servicemen are invited as guests. Prizes include a quilt donated by Mrs Reid and an exhibition in Mr McCormack's window. Bob Wilson billed as top road comedian. Thos H Ince's Civilization to play at Gay theatre Monday and Tuesday with 10 and 25 cent prices.
