The Dauphin Poultry Association hosted its first annual show over three days with 400 to 500 entries and around 500 birds displayed. A banquet at the Anglican church basement followed, featuring catering by the Children’s Aid Society and a program praising poultry’s economic potential, including remarks from Mr. Wm. Murray and Mr. R. M. McCaul.

La Verandrye Chapter 1.0.D.E. holds annual meeting at Masonic rooms at 3 PM Friday. AH members urged to attend as officers for the next year are to be elected. A note on entertainment mentions the film Breed of Men showing Wednesday and Thursday February 11 and 12 at Star Theatre with Bill Hart in a bashful beau role.
A town and rural municipality delegation met cabinet members last week and secured assurance of assistance for a proposed new hospital. The project is pressing, and directors seek cooperation from district municipalities and broad public support.
At last Mondays meeting the council finalized its leadership with President A H F Stelck and Vice President F T Wright. Sec treasurer E A H Gorton and a full council including J R Eagle E A Ramsay R C Smith J J Crowe J E Wall win J H Campbell G H Crimes W T Greensides. E A Ramsay chairs transportation, J J Wall win finance, J R Eagle power and industrial, G H Crimes advertising. Committees to be completed next Monday. C N R has been asked to provide an end loading platform for heavy machinery and cars.
Albert Campbell and Paul Coterier, jailed at Pas, seek a speedy trial on fur theft charges against Hud son Bay Co. defendant. Defense is by Mr C A S Rogers of Campbell Rogers. In separate note, fourteen poultry tonic prizes from Peerless Products Co. Brandon were won by K Kemp Gladstone Wo Murray A E Kedare and Ed S Robinson Dauphin.
Thos Howarth of Spruce Bluff brought 21 wolf pelts to town and sold them to a dealer for about oy. Meanwhile Women’s Institute classes on millinery and dressmaking attract 30 and 72 students respectively as the department extends the demonstrator’s class one week.
The Trimble Trophy finals approach with many rinks未 yet decided for the knockout stage. Neepawa bonspiel entrants include W Gordon Dr Rogers Roy Hamilton and J Eagle who earned Blue Ribbon second prize. Steen shines at Gilbert Plains with consecutive wins while Barker and Home post early records. Dauphin Curling Club promotes the province wide event, expecting large entries and showcasing local hospitality.
The annual meeting in the town hall, presided by Rev H P Barrett, reported pleasing committee notes. The society, economically run, spends 69 cents per day per child. many former residents have bank accounts. Balance sheet shows income 460.82 and receipts 3461.12 for the year. Officers elected for 1920 include President Barrett and several vice presidents and secretaries.
The annual meeting of the governors of the Dauphin General Hospital was held on the 5th inst. Reports show steadily increasing work at the institution. An extended report of the proceedings will be published in the next issue.
The Lieut Stuart Wicimeyer Chapter 1.0 DE will host a Leap Year dance at the town hall on Friday February 14 with MacMurray's orchestra. Tickets are 73 cents each.
A Women's Institute meeting is scheduled at Span School on Thursday February 12. Mrs J W McQuay and Miss Strang will address the gathering.
Mr George Broadfoot and family wish to thank friends and the Baptist church for kindness and attention during the illness and death of Mrs Broadfoot.
