Medal Winners Honored At Year End Literary Meeting

The Collegiate Review notes the final 1931 literary meeting where Miss Irene Winters and Miss Ellen Moore received medals from Mr. H N Macneill for grade ix and x oratorical speeches. A Christmas carol sing along with the school choir directed by Miss Cadman closed the program.

Main Street Decorated for Christmas in Dauphin

Dauphin’s main street features evergreen trees along the curb as a Christmas decoration effort. About $60 was spent this year with 25 percent funded by the Town Council and the rest raised by a Board of Trade drive. All funds covered labor costs. subscriptions totaling $38 came from local businesses and individuals including McGirr & Katz, Hotel Dauphin, Grandview Hotel, and Canadian Bank of Commerce among others.

Mission Band Display Of Work At United Church

United Church Mission Band showcased this year’s work with miniature villages of Indian Chinese and Japanese styles. Members praised attendance cards savings devices and band colors while a Pine River Hospital gift table raised 20 dollars. Supervisors listed include Mrs. G M Churchill and assistants with various workers contributing to a total added fund of 322 dollars.

Death of Mrs H F Caldwell in Dauphin

Oldest residents note the passing of Mrs Eliza Ann Pinder Caldwell age about 72 born in Orchard Ontario. She moved to Manitoba in 1900 with husband Henry Flemming Caldwell and lived in Dauphin where he worked in business. Survived by three sons Gilbert Plains Charl es and others three daughters and two sisters. Funeral held at United Church Dauphin with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
