The Dauphin unit of the Volunteer Reserve is reorganized with names including Rebt McGimpsey James Wynes George Reid and Jack Yorkin. Platoon No 2 lists sergeant James Oliphant corporals William Perry Harry Poole Eric Saville lance corporals Norman Gordon Lawrence Winters James Weston.

Cadets Plan to Collect Old Records for Salvage

Cadets plan to gather 50 000 old records to supply bomb torn London with a mobile kitchen. The effort aims to feed families made homeless by bombing. Mr Palmer notes shooting will be done in the egg pool. The Hall of Smith Jackson School is ruled out due to many doors and risk of injury. A staff of officers will be appointed within three weeks with training to carry out the work without adult assistance.

Resolution on Ireland ports and bases for Britain sought

The document urges the government of Eire to allow ports and air bases to Britain at once. It calls all interested persons especially those of Irish descent to attend. Similar resolutions are being dispatched by President De Valera to Irish people abroad to aid in establishing the Irish Free State amid heavy shipping losses from enemy actions near Hare coast.

C N Employees Raise 653 For Lord Mayor Fund

C N employees in the Dauphin division donated over 653 to the Lord Mayor’s fund. A money order for that amount was sent to Winnipeg on Tuesday with more expected from other districts. Each department head led canvassing after circular notices. The fund assists homes bombed in England at Christmas.

First Hockey Game To Be Played Here Tonight

Longtime Neepa wa Dauphin rivalry opens season at the Dauphin Skating arena at 8 15 tonight. Dauphin seeks victory after last Friday's 7 4 defeat at Neepawa. Neepawa aims to extend their lead in the series.

Little Theatre's Red Cross Show Raises Seventy Dollars

A Town hall program Friday December 13 featured two plays and a musical fantasy by the Little Theatre. Frank Barker directed with humor as Bill Perry, Bruce Little and Mrs. E F Treendle starred. Hon J L Bowman chaired the Dauphin Red Cross fundraiser. admission was twenty five cents per person.

Reserve Regiment Of Fort Garrys Will Be Set Up

The Fort Garry Horse joins the Canadian Armed Corps and forms a first brigade with the First Canadian Cavalry Regiment the Ontario Regiment and the Three Rivers Regiment. A second reserve regiment will affiliate with the corps likely to be headquartered in Dauphin. Mobilization timing and quarters are not yet announced. Major O McGuirk of Dauphin leads a Dauphin squadron. Captain G M Churchill is the only active regiment officer in Dauphin. Lieutenant W J Easterbrook serves with the Queen s Own Cameron Highlanders as an instructional officer.

Dauphin Teddy Bear Becomes Radio Mascot for Charity Funds

A Nickel Club at the Dauphin courthouse sent a teddy bear to the Red Indian Nickel Man in Winnipeg. Nickie the bear became the Nickel club mascot after radio acknowledgement. The group, organized by Roger Watson, plans an auction to raise funds for Christmas dinners for Winnipeg's unemployed as bidding climbs beyond 375 nickels.
