Tuesday nominations yielded all candidates elected by acclamation. Mayor nominees were Bowman and ex Mayor Geo Johnson, who withdrew within time limit to avoid a contest. Councillors and school trustees listed for wards. regional reeves named for Grandview, Gilbert Plains, and Lawrence.
A series of quiet nuptials documented by Rev. J. A. Haw include Watson Henry Ballard of Roblin and Eulalie Adair of Grandview wed at the parsonage. Roy Currie and Ida May Keats wed at Ashville, Olive Pearl Neely and Joseph H. Irwin marry in the Neely home, and Jessie Edwards ties with Fred Henry McNaughton at the bride's home with a somber reception and a midnight departure for a brief eastern honeymoon.
Mr and Mrs James E Playford announce their daughter Mary Christine's engagement to Mr Walter E Wheeler of Winnipeg The wedding is planned for Christmas noon Also announced is the engagement of Mrs Percy Willson to Capt W K Anderson manager of the Bank of Hamilton Champion Alberta
William C. Turner sold his residence at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Vermillion Street to Cyrus Brain in a property transfer recorded locally.
Smith at Dauphin December 10 gives a son to Mr and Mrs Roy Smith. Scott Johnston at Kamsack December 6 wed Howard Bruce Scott to Baby Johnston. Chase at Dauphin December 9 announces Marion Rose Chase daughter of Frank E Chase aged 2 years 3 months.
The H. E. S annual meeting held Tuesday afternoon at 3 30 in the town hall elected officers for the year. President Mrs McCaul Ist Vice Mrs McKerchar Zed Vice Mrs A Hiddell Secretary Miss J Strang Asst Secretary Mrs T T Malcolm and a full slate of ward and country directors. Delegates were appointed to seek interviews with town and rural councils to establish a rest room in Dauphin.
The Colle literary society held Sept elections after lively campaigning by Black and Orange factions. Ballots counted in the Assembly hall followed an impromptu concert as results announced showing Black party winning all but one post, chief printer. Elected officers include Daniel McLeod president Irma Struthers 1st vice Evelyn Code 2nd vice Grace Cruise secretary Gordon Bennett treasurer Annie Romanchych editor Margaret Stark assistant editor Edward Scrase chief printer.
The semi annual election of officers of 1.0.0.F. lodge No. 36 was held on the 10th inst. J. P. G. J. A. Haddreil was chosen, N. G. H. V. Smith, V. G. A. Wardle, Ree. Sec. J. A. Oliphant, P.G. Fin. Sec. G. A. Hooter, P.G. Lodge Trustees G. A. Hunter P.G. C. E. Merrell P.G. D. A. Craig P.G.
At the last regular meeting the chapter appeals to keep singing the second verse of the National Anthem at gatherings. Mrs Hall, regent of the Literary Chapter, Hamilton Ontario, outlined the east chapter’s four year work knitting socks pyjamas and hospital supplies to aid the war effort. She urged continued women's work in reconstruction after victory and called for a Thanksgiving season mindful of those sorrowed by war.
A special program at the Star theatre on Friday and Saturday features Marguerite Clark in The Seven Swans a five reel drama plus two reel feature and a Mack Sennett comedy.
