Passing of an Old-Timer Thomas Wickes of Spruce Creek
Thomas Henry Wickes of Spruce Creek died Sunday November 25 at age 93 years 7 months. He leaves a widow three sons and five daughters including Walter J and Fred E of Spruce Creek Harry of Dauphin Mrs R S Wainwright of Manson BC Mrs Menlove of Winnipeg Mrs Wiggins of Regina and Mrs W Hall and Mrs Williams. Born in Coventry England 1827 he came to Manitoba in 1890 walking from Strathclair with a heavy valise. He settled on land later found to be Hudson Bay Co. land before homesteading remained there until his death. Celebrated golden wedding in February 1913.
