Decoration Day Service Held Here Sunday
The Dauphin and Gilbert Plains branches of the Canadian Legion BESL held a combined decoration day parade from the Legion hall to the cenotaph. Archdeacon Bridgett led the service, with addresses by Rev. L A Mattitt and prayers by Capt. G Oystryk. A wreath was laid by J E Burton and J S Fisher played Last Post and Reveille. Coffee and sandwiches followed at the Legion hall, then veterans went to the cemetery for a graveside wreath.

Seniors Close Season With Two Games Today

In a Tuesday game, the Rockets beat the Red Birds 8 to 1 in eight innings halted by darkness. Six Dauphin errors aided Indian Head scoring. Wimpy Stephenson allowed 11 hits with two K’s. The famous Winnipeg violinist Donna Grescoe will give a recital at the Dauphin theatre on Thursday Oct 5 under the Dauphin Lions Club sponsorship. Tickets are on sale now at the theatre or from Lions members. Grescoe won a 5000 Chicago conservatory scholarship at age 10 and has been hailed as a genius by Arthur Benjamin.
