Winnipegosis Debates Dusty Streets At Special Council Meeting
Winnipegosis village council met in a special session on August 23 to hear numerous delegations about the town’s dusty streets. Officials reviewed the long pursuit of paving and oiling, with grants from the provincial public works department repeatedly uncertain and the 1961 program not fully funding the proposed double prime coating. A planned oiling of Main and George streets was deemed only a temporary fix, and recent dust from No. 20 highway worsened conditions. A local survey and a report to the council and chamber of commerce are planned, with merchants urged to back action to solve the ongoing dust problem.
