School Reopens Tuesday As Town Vows Full Attendance

The town’s schools resume on Tuesday after a two month vacation. Two buildings will require full use to handle more pupils. more room will be needed soon. Staff includes Collegiate principal G J Elliott and Public School principal W J Henderson with many teachers listed. Beginners start classes in both schools first week. Parents urged to ensure every child of school age attends on opening day.

Pioneer settler John Dawson leaves tomatoes at Herald

John Dawson, a pioneer of Mountview district, left a dozen extra large tomatoes at the Herald office on Mandsy. Several were fully ripened. one weighed 1 lb 0 oz and another 3 1 0 oz.

The Grandview at Grandview game Friday saw Dauphin beat the hosts by 82. Dauphin batteries were L McKay and Rawson. Grandview pitchers were McNally and Duff with Duff and McNally catching. Campers Return Quiet Beach Season Ends

The week closes with campers returning to town and the beach regaining peace after a long season of visitors. Early June saw many campers leaving, bells at Bert Bonds and Bill Bells cows disturbed quiet mornings, while motor launch Napanee run by Mr Paul remains in use. Mrs R Boyd and Mr Boyd hosted young guests at 4rd Ave North West for a Tuesday evening with music and dancing in Dorothy Slater's honor.

Miss Tucker to Open Studio for Fall Term in September

Miss Pearl M. Tucker A T C M will open her studio for the fall term on Monday September. Saturday September 6 has been set apart for pupil registration from 10 to 12 am and 2 to 5 pm.

Lost and Strayed Notices From Ochre River District

A June dated notice lists several lost items and rewards near Ochre River. Silver watch reported missing with reward sought at Herald Office. Spoked wheel and baby clothing also missing. Strays include two yearling horses roan and red with ear notches. 85 reward for recovery. Names: C BES EDICKSON, ARMSTRONG, W D McRAE, BOTTOMLEY, J BOLES. The Thos Whitmore half section in Gartmore sold this week for 25 19 with a $4 00 consideration. Purchaser Frank H Snyder of Ste Rose is a progressive farmer planning improvements. The Gartmore business centre and political history once centered on this farm.

Threshing Season Delays G W A Meeting

Members of the G W V A are told the regular meeting slated for 28 inst is cancelled due to harvest work keeping comrades away. The next meeting is set for September 11 with important business. The note also praises rooms used by 250 plus comrades and mentions Comrade G F King to receive a Military Medal from the Prince of Wales in Winnipeg, boosting local vets.

Arnimtroing Trading Co. vs Grenon suit on Winnipegosis hotel

The suit for possession of the Commercial hotel Winnipegosis favored the defendant J P Grenon. His counterclaim for rent was allowed. Representation included Bowman McFadden Calbiwell for Grenon and a Winnipeg firm for the plaintiff.

Dauphin Provincial Fair Grand Champion in Home Economics

Mrs T E Gorby won the provinces top prize in Home Economics with a score of 83 at the Dauphin fair. She was the largest departmental winner last year and in the province. Several local notices follow including events, appointments, and community updates for Sept 1st Labor Day plans.
