English Airman Drowned at Clear Lake in Manitoba
RAF airman David Doherty stationed at Carberry drowned near Clear Lake when his canoe overturned after his companion fell in. Doherty, unable to swim, disappeared under the water and was recovered about five thirty in the afternoon with help from RCMP and local rescuers. His parents reside in England.

Excursionists Welcomed Friday by Dauphin Leaders
Northbound 13 car C N R train arrived in Dauphin at 2 30 in the afternoon with the largest passenger load for the Churchill trip. About 200 Americans from half the states and a score of Manitobans toured town air schools No 10 S F T S and No 7 B and G S. The Dauphin Board of Trade staged red white and blue Victory badges and an official car sticker for each guest as Premier John Bracken Mayor Ramsden and local officials led a motorcade to No 10 S F T S where Harvards roared by in a briefing sky salute.
