Horticultural Show to Crowns Dauphin Exhibit Weekend

Dauphin to host a two day horticultural show at the Town Hall Friday and Saturday August 27 and 28 with fruit vegetables cut flowers honey and canning. Prize list expanded with cups from Dauphin Herald and Press Hopwood Bowman McFadden Rotary and Dauphin Agricultural Society. Masonic Service Planned at Grandview

A masonic service will be held at Grandview on Sunday August 22 at 3 pm led by Kes A. E. Cousins of Pauphin who conducts the service. A postponement had been called for Sunday July 15.

Robt. F. McEwen Dies After Detroit Accident

Robt. F. McEwen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter McEwen, died in Detroit after a ditching machine accident on August 11 as earth caved in. He was 20, worked for Ford Motor Co, and survived by seven brothers and one sister. Funeral at St. James United Church Dauphin Friday August 20.

McLachlin Wins Club Ladies Golf Championship

In a Saturday final at the Country Club Mrs C J Walker faced Mrs C W McLachlin. McLachlin won by 2 holes after a close match begun at 2 pm, with Walker holder of the title for three years. A silver cup, donated by the club, goes to the winner.

Harrington Advances in Winnipeg Golf Tourney

In the Free Press event held in Winnipeg, Dr. W. J Harrington of Dauphin Country Club tied for seventh after rounds of 91 and 93, clinching a spot in the first flight of eight contestants.

Dauphin Lodge No 57 BPO Elks announces the annual Kiddies Picnic for Thursday August 26. All town children invited with committees led by A A Brewer transportation J W Johnston sports A Katz refreshments S Darlington safety. Citizens with cars asked to cooperate with transportation.

The obituary notes the deaths of Nymede and P. A. of Dauphin with two daughters Mrs. F. G. Thompson Kelvington Sask and Mrs. W. A Adams Vancouver B C. Funeral service will be at the Baptist Church Saturday at 2 30 with Rev O E Broughton officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery.

District Medical Convention in Dauphin Hosts Noted Surgeons

Under the Northern Manitoba Medical Society a large assembly heard Dr J E Seldon of Vancouver Dr C L Pope of Alberta University and Dr T W Walker of Saskatoon at Dauphin General Hospital on Saturday August 11. The chair was Dr W J Harrington. Pope spoke on Clinical Demonstration. Seldon presented on Diagnosis and treatment of abdominal surgical conditions and Walker spoke on Chronic multiple arthritis. Clinical cases were shown by Walkin Trimble and Rogers and by the hospital staff. Attendees came from Swan River Grandview Gilbert Plains Ste Rose Ochre River and Dauphin and included Drs Cameron Shortreed Morrison Shier Eshew Ethebert Potoski Sifton Goselin Walkin Harrington Rogers Tripp Bottomley Trimble.

Wheat crop turning out better than expected in Dauphin district

In the Dauphin district all wheat has been cut with threshing not yet started. expected yields exceed twenty bushels per acre. Hail damage minor and no rust losses. Barley fair, oats only fair, little fox or rye sown. Labor sufficient. threshing soon begins. Later notes confirm wheat improving. Threshing started at Fisher's on Wednesday.
