Swan River defeated Gilbert Plains 6 4 in the final after semi finals saw Swan River and Kenton advance. Stars beat Pats to win the girls softball and a barn dance closed the day raising funds for expenses.

William Boyd Miller died August 5 at age 75 11 after long illness. He homesteaded in the Vermillion river district near Dauphin and served as the first ward councillor and later reeve of the rural municipality. Survived by his second wife and children in Dauphin and Fort William, his funeral was held August 7 at the United Church with interment at Riverside cemetery.

Pole commits suicide by grasshopper poison near Dauphin
Nick Prasloski a 57 year old Polish man living at Drifting River 18 miles from Dauphin drank a mixture of grasshopper poison on Tuesday. He became violently ill and died at 1 15 p m after being treated at Dauphin General Hospital. He leaves a wife and eight children. Despondency is given as the reason.

Death of Thos Arkison at Dauphin after stroke
Thos Arkison of Dauphin died July 29 after a stroke five days earlier following two to three years of ill health. Born near Perth Ontario nearly 64 years ago, he moved west in 1897 settling in Dauphin. He worked in drayage, for Robin Cruise, then farmed northeast of town before returning to Dauphin.
