Canada to form infantry brigade for Korea UN forces

Prime Minister announces a special Canadian brigade of 4090 to 5000 men with six months training to join United Nations forces in Korea if needed. Final judging by provincial horticultural officials will occur in August with trophy winners announced at the D M C C building. Homes with top scores may qualify for provincial honors.

July adds 16 800 to Dauphin’s building permit total raising seven month value to 274 446 with 68 permits issued this year far below 1949 levels. New commercial and residential projects are under way in the business district as Perry Whetter’s tire shop and other renovations advance.

Golfers Day features Joe Kirkwood American pro and trick shot artist in an exhibition at the local course. Johnny Lawrence, Wasagaming pro, joins with two Dauphin locals Jim Alexander and Ray Johnston in the pro clinic sponsored by Dauphin Country Club. If rain, the D.M.C.C. building will host the event.

No. 5 Highway West Listed For Surfacing

The Dauphin to Saskatchewan border route likely to be hard surfaced within three years, per a letter from Hon. Errick Willis to the Dauphin chamber of commerce. He notes the road has a high priority and under normal circumstances a very good chance of hard surfacing, though no definite promise is given.
