Picnic at Ochre Beach Draws 1500 Enthusiasts

Child's Death Accidental Jury Exonerates Driver
The coroner's jury found Lorraine Inez Petrie died accidentally at Dauphin beach on July 31. The taxi driver Cliff Clark and two passengers were not to blame as the child ran behind the car from the right side and was unseen by occupants.

Winnipegosis captain missing after night boat accident
Captain John Henry Denby, 61, disappeared nine miles southwest of Cormorant Island while off duty at 1 a.m. The vessel returned to search with a light but no trace found. The body had not been recovered as of the latest report. Denby left behind a wife two daughters, two sisters and a brother and four grandchildren.

Princess Cafe Burglary Recovered Stolen Goods
Early Sunday the Princess cafe was broken into and 45 dollars of merchandise stolen. Three juveniles suspected. The stolen items were recovered almost immediately and held by police. A box was found near the store and three boys seen with another box. The same day the three boys were located and the rest of the goods recovered.

Large Bear Trapped At Clear Lake Resort
A 400 pound black bear kept residents wary at Clear Lake was lured into a trap by workers. Eight men hoisted the animal onto a truck and relocated it 25 miles from the townsite before turning it loose.
